Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu has been a wonderful experience for our family. The teachers and staff are always friendly and polite, which really sets a positive tone. I’m especially thankful—given the season and the age group—that they are very proactive about health and safety. They handle any signs of sickness respectfully and privately by pulling a student aside when needed, which I truly appreciate. The instructors do an excellent job of keeping the kids engaged, striking a great balance between building respect and discipline while still making classes fun. Plus they do seasonal fun days, which typically involve some fun competition and is family-centric. I also appreciate their parent and student classes that are held once a month, in which parents, grandparents, and siblings can join the kids on the mat for free. Overall, it’s a very supportive and well-run environment.
I put my daughter in jiujitsu to learn self defense, never had I imagined we would gain a family in the process. Two weeks after watching her train, I decided I wanted to be a part of the fun. We have been coming for about 4 months now and can’t imagine doing anything else. We learn from the best. Professor Fabricio and all of our coaches are kind, welcoming, FUN, patient, understanding, supportive and knowledgeable. The techniques are important to me but it’s the people I fell in love with. Everyone who comes to our location has become a friend (happens when you do techniques so intimate). As a single mom, having this community means so much to me, not just to build strength and ability but friendships. If you ever consider a combat type sport, please choose BJJ. You won’t regret it! Hope to see you on the blue mats 🥰
I am a purple belt out of Houston, and I dropped in on a class while on vacation. The entire staff was super helpful, the professors were very knowledgeable, and the entire team was extremely inviting. The facilities were well kept and the mats were some of the nicest I have trained on. If you are looking for a school to grow and learn BJJ for self-defense, sport, or just to find a community I would highly recommend. I also arrived a bit early and the kids class seemed to be a fantastic environment for all kids. All of the kids seemed to be learning and having fun while doing so. If I visit the Fort Collins area again I will be returning for another class.
This gym and the people who run it have honestly changed my life. Always knew i wanted to try jujitsu but never got out and did it until i randomly decided to check this place out. I felt a little nervous my first day, but could really tell that Professor Lucas has an incredible heart and really knows what he’s doing. In talking to Thiago after the class, i knew for sure that i had found my family out here. I felt like I reconnected with my brothers or some people i’ve known my entire life. Every time i train, i feel like i come out a better person. After every conversation we have on or off the mat.. i feel growth in my mind. I’ve been so lucky to have gained this family in Professor Lucas, Thiago, Amanda, Jess, Matt.. i could go on for days. Also we’ve had the privilege of getting to learn from Professor Jefferson Moura which has been a really humbling experience for which i’ll be forever grateful. If you’re thinking about trying juji
I came to visit family in CO. Reached out to Caleb at Gracie Barra Fort Collins to see if I could drop in. Caleb was very welcoming and was more than accommodating when it came to my request. The academy itself was very clean and had a nice set up. I trained two days here and both days were awesome! The people in class were extremely nice and very welcoming. I’m a beginner, everyone was patient and very informative when it came to helping me train. I would definitely drop in again when I’m in town. The team, the students, and the facility provided a great experience.
I really can’t share any genuine complaints about this place, the coaching staff is welcoming, professional, motivating, and just the right amount of sassy. These people know their stuff and they prove it on the mat every time I watch them roll or roll with them. What I’d like to make a point of though is the amount of support I’ve received from this group of amazing people already. I’ve played sports, gone to different gyms, and done plenty of different community activities, but I’ve never felt so much support and actual care/concern for my wellbeing from a group of people, nonetheless busy adults. All in all, great pricing, great gym, great people. Thank you GBFC for welcoming us into your team and training.
