Not all gyms are created equal. Learning from Marcelo and his team has been an incredible experience. My two boys (4 and 7 years old) have been going to this gym since February (6 months). The environment is friendly, respectful, encouraging and empowering. You’ll see all kinds of kids, different ages, shapes and sizes, all working hard to get better at their BJJ and lives. There is zero tolerance for bullying, very practical rolling and great instruction. Marcelo Mafra is a world class athlete and BJJ World Champion. He’s a humble guy who takes his BJJ very seriously yet knows how to be a great mentor for the kids and be playful as well to teach them self defence and competitive BJJ. This is not only a great place to train in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu but the only place you will get traditional Brazilian Jiu-jitsu taught by a multiple time Worlds and Pan American champion. No other Jiu-Jitsu academy in the High Desert can make that claim. With a great kids program that has classes 5 days a week. They help guide some of that energy in a positive direction with training from beginners classes to advanced. Is your kid lacking a little self esteem? See how training will help increase their ability to critically think through situations with confidence. If that wasn't enough...(baring any tournaments where most of the academy goes along for coaching and support) the gym is open 7 days a week. Thats like Basically 365 days a year. You have to do you and your family a favor and pay the academy a visit. They Even do free trials and have 2 locations (Hesperia off of I, and in Valley of hmy 18) to choose from.
My kids have been going here for 2 years. We love it so much! Marcelo is amazing with the kids and has wonderful coaches. It’s a good family atmosphere and the tournaments are so much fun!! My children have become great competitors under his and his coaches instruction ! High highly highly recommend ! It makes a such a big difference in t at home and at school as well
Professor Mafra is very welcoming and makes each class very enjoyable. It’s great to be able to train under someone who has won so many accolades and in the short period I have trained under him I have seen my game vastly improve. Recommend anyone from all levels to come try a class.
This gym has really aided my child's mental health; not only has it assisted in the regulation of her behaviors, but it has also taught her how to exercise her critical thinking when place in a situation. Mafra has not only helped her develop character, but they have also established a family environment for our family. Thank you once more!
Best Jiu-jitsu gym un High Desert! I've been here with my husband and kids since 2021 and still love it. There are new features and classes, and more changes are in the works.
