My gym. More than a gym, my sanctuary. The coaches here truly care for their students. Whether you’re just enrolling your kid for jiu-jitsu classes or signing up yourself to learn self-defense or stay in-shape or maybe want to compete and train yourself to the highest level that BJJ has to offer. The curriculum itself comes directly from Carlos Machado who got it directly from the Gracies so literally a direct lineage of jiu-jitsu here. They also do striking classes, woman’s self-defense, flexibility classes. Doesn’t get any better than 805 Combat Sports. OSS!!!
Great instructors, beautiful facility, and competitive yet welcoming students. A hidden gem in the Simi Valley! I live in the northern California, but while visiting my in-laws in the valley, I had the pleasure of training at 805 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This gym is owned and taught by black belts under the legendary Jean Jacques Machado. Professors Mark and Eric are not only knowledgeable in BJJ, but also experts in Judo and wrestling, such that they present a complete picture of grappling and help you elevate your game to the next level. They have a beautiful, brick-and-wood made modern facility that is conveniently located right off 118 with an ample parking. They have a hard-working yet welcoming students of diverse age and skill levels. I highly recommend anyone in the valley to check out 805 BJJ!!!
During my time in the Army, I trained at a handful of different martial arts academies throughout the country. Now that I am back home, I am so thankful to have found 805BJJ. The jiu jitsu is top notch, evidenced by all the killers on the mats at any time. What makes this place truly special is the people, who care about your progress in jiu jitsu, and as a person in general. This culture is instilled and led by example by the owner and black belts Josh and Ric. This place is more than a gym, it’s a family; and if you’re reading this, I hope you come on by🤙
I will say it has been an amazing experience at 805 BJJ! I signed up both my kids roughly between 4-5 months ago and have noticed a tremendous change in them and both love it. At first I didn't know if my kids would enjoy it and very challenging when they're both on the spectrum. When I talked to Coach Cowboy about my kids being on the spectrum, he greatly understood. My kids will continue and will be a long-term commitment! Coach Cowboy and his team have been amazing and highly recommend 805 BJJ!
Brought my kids to 805, we were welcomed with open arms and were invited to join a class before the class the kids were in. This is the first combat sport experience for them they fell in love with it due to the enjoyable atmosphere. Chris is great with the kids very patient and Cowboy is a down to earth guy. If you’re looking for a family like environment this is the spot. Oh parents can join up with the kids if you’re up for the challenge ;)
I started BJJ at 805 combat sports a few months ago. I immediately felt welcome, and received individual instruction from Jen, the women’s instructor, to get me started. I have since been learning under all their great instructors, and each of their students has something to teach each other. It feels like a family environment, and I would recommend to anyone to try this great sport at such a beautiful, clean and welcoming facility.
