GB Redlands is not just a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school; it's a thriving community where support and friendship flourish. My son started training here at the age of 5, and is now 7, he has developed immensely both on and off the mats, gaining self-control, confidence, camaraderie, sportsmanship, and self-defense skills. After witnessing my son's growth over two years, I encouraged my nephew to join, and shortly after, I decided to train as well. Recently, my husband also joined, which has made our family’s experience even more enriching. GB Redlands began with a very small group of students, but it has grown tremendously. The sense of camaraderie extends beyond the students, as my family has made great friendships that thrive both on and off the mats. We've connected with other parents, both those who train and those who don’t, creating a supportive network that enhances our experience. Professor Shawn and Coach Sergio are truly exceptiona
I’m so happy to be a part of this school! I never thought I’d joined a sport like this, but seeing what it did for my daughter and husband, I had to try it for myself and I’m so glad I did and love that we do this together as a family. My daughter has been doing jiujitsu since she was 3 1/2 years old (she’s 5 now) and I love to see the growth from her, both on and off the mats because of jiujitsu. Professor Shawn and Coach Sergio work really well with the kids. Jiujitsu can be hard sport sometimes but the way they teach, the kids make it look easy! Not only are they teaching the kids a sport and self defense, but also discipline/direction. For myself, I never thought I’d enjoy this sport as much as I do. It took me 6 months to join after my husband and kid. 😅 I wasn’t ready for the sweat, being on the ground super close to people aha, but after my first training day I knew I wanted to come back. I was shocked how it was more than just a
Our family of four has been attending for almost a year, and we absolutely love it! It’s rare to find something we can all do together, but jiujitsu has become our family activity—and a great workout too! We roll as a family, learn real self-defense skills, and have a blast doing it. As a female, I was a little apprehensive at first, but from day one I felt completely welcomed. There’s a strong female presence here, and the environment is supportive, respectful, and empowering. Professor Shawn and the coaching team have built an incredible culture that’s positive and inclusive for everyone. Professor Shawn is amazing with kids—patient, encouraging, and able to make every class both fun and challenging. The coaches are equally great at engaging and motivating students of all ages and experience levels. The community here feels like a second home. It’s not just about jiujitsu; it’s about confidence, respect, resilience, and growth—both on
I can’t say enough good things about my experience with GB Redlands. I had originally signed my three kids up and they quickly made progress. It gave them confidence in learning how to defend themselves. Eventually, I tried a class myself and was instantly hooked. Professor Shawn and Coach Sergio are phenomenal teachers. Coach Kacie was my first training partner, and she made me feel extremely comfortable starting out as a complete newbie. They are patient, caring, and extremely knowledgeable, and they truly care about their students growth. It’s not just a place to train but it’s a close knit family environment. I’ve formed friendships with the incredible women that train here. Everyone here is extremely supportive, they encourage me, and support me every step of the way. I have had a few setbacks which forced me to take a few breaks in the last year and a half but I am excited to continue to grow. I highly recommend Gracie Barra Redla
If you’ve ever said to yourself, “I wish I had started when I was younger,”—start now. And if you’re a mom worried about mom guilt, let your children see you thriving in your passions and loving yourself fully. There is no better example you can set than showing young girls’ what confidence, growth, and self-love looks like. My daughter and I joined this gym back in 2024, never really expecting to stay, but here we are, 7 months later into 2025 and it’s been nothing short of amazing. We've both have an incredible positive experience. From the kids’ classes to the adult sessions, the environment is welcoming, kind, encouraging, and genuinely supportive—For women and moms who have thought about joining but debating that step-TAKE IT! Professor Shawn and Coach Sergio have been nothing but welcoming to the both of us, and Coach Kacie brings an energy that lifts everyone up. There has always been plenty of women training on any given day and
I’ve been a student at Gracie Barra Redlands for the past seven months, and I can honestly say it’s been an amazing experience from day one. As a female looking to learn self-defense, I was initially hesitant about joining a martial arts gym. However, from my first class, I felt nothing but welcomed and supported by both the coaches and fellow students. One of the standout features of Gracie Barra Redlands is the strong female presence in the gym. There are plenty of other women training, so I never feel out of place or uncomfortable - whether I’m working with a female or male partner, there’s always someone to practice with, and that’s made a huge difference in my confidence. It’s a very inclusive and supportive environment. Both Coach Sergio and Professor Shawn are exceptional in every way. They’re not just incredibly knowledgeable but also genuinely care about the progress of every student. Their teaching style is clear, patient, and
