Highly recommend Krossface Jiu Jitsu which opens soon in El Sobrante! Baldwin is a super technical bjj practitioner - his teaching style is great for breaking down complex concepts into bite sized pieces that isn't very overwhelming. I’ve been training with Baldwin for 5 years now and my game has gotten so much better with his help. If you’re a beginner or seasoned athlete who wants to level up quick, train here! He’s coached me through some tough competitions with success. Good vibes at Krossface Jiu Jitsu all around. They also offer great kids / youth classes too if you want to intro your kid to martial arts! Perfect for the whole family honestly. Also super close to Pinole / Hercules area! Check out Krossface Jiu Jitsu - you won’t regret it :)
If you're looking for a top jiujitsu gym in the El Sobrante area, I definitely recommend Krossface Jiujitsu. Baldwin knows his stuff—his skills are legit and tested in competition. On top of that, he's a super down-to-earth, hardworking guy who makes sure everyone feels welcome and is always improving, no matter where they’re at. Whether you’ve been training for a while and want tough rolls, or just thinking about trying jiujitsu for the first time you’ll be in good hands. They’ve also got an awesome kids’ program if you’re looking to get your kid into martial arts!
Baldwin brings exactly the kind of energy you want in a jiu-jitsu gym—positive, focused, and community-driven. The vibe here is unmatched. From day one, it’s been clear this place is built on respect, hard work, and a real passion for the art. The culture reflects Baldwin’s leadership: welcoming to beginners, challenging for experienced grapplers, and always centered on growth. You won’t find egos here—just good people pushing each other to get better, on and off the mats. If you’re looking for a place to train, learn, and be part of something meaningful, this is the gym. Grateful to have a space like this in our community.
Don’t come here if… *You don’t like being challenged (physically or mentally). *You expect to be amazing on day one without putting in the work. *You’re allergic to coaching, feedback, or constructive discomfort. *You think sweating is optional and humility is overrated. *You want shortcuts instead of progress. But DO come here if you want: *Legit coaching that actually makes you better. *A gym where people push you, support you, and keep it real. Because Jiu-Jitsu teaches discipline, patience, and problem-solving under pressure, it's not easy. However, by coming to CrossFace, you will get a community that will cheer you on… then immediately try to submit you (with respect). This isn’t a “show up and pose” gym. It’s a show up, work hard, learn something, and come back better kind of place. You’ll leave tired, humbled, and weirdly excited for the next class. Highly recommend — unless effort isn’t your thing.
Baldwin is a high level black-belt providing fantastic, high quality, accessible instruction in Jiu Jitsu. He’s built a really great community of folks training and the vibe of everyone in the room is amazing. Krossface has classes for everyone, regardless of age, experience, and fitness levels and its clear that Baldwin and Ash are really dedicated to their students. I would strongly recommend Krossface Jiu Jitsu!
