I started training jiu jitsu pretty recently back in New York, and when I moved to California, I was so grateful to find MBJJ. From the very first class, everyone made me feel welcomed and supported—it’s such a special, family-like community. As a beginner, walking into a new gym can be intimidating, but MBJJ has made it easy to feel comfortable right away. The beginner classes are incredibly helpful, and people genuinely go out of their way to teach, encourage, and cheer you on. It’s also an amazing space for women. The women’s-only classes are so welcoming, and there’s a growing group of incredible women here who make training even more fun and empowering. Professor Pedro sets the tone for the whole gym—kind, patient, and so invested in helping everyone improve. If you’ve ever thought about trying jiu jitsu, I can’t recommend MBJJ enough. Just come try one class—you might end up falling in love with it like I did!
I can’t say enough good things about this gym! From day one, the community has been so welcoming and supportive. There are classes every single day (often multiple per day), which makes it easy to stay consistent no matter your schedule. As a white belt, I’ve really appreciated the beginners classes — they focus on fundamentals and make sure you build a solid base before moving into more advanced techniques. Professor Pedro deserves special mention — he sets the tone for the whole gym. He’s approachable, patient, and genuinely cares about helping each student grow. After I injured my leg in class, he actually sat down with me one-on-one to show safer ways to roll and protect my knees — that kind of care and attention is rare. Also, Coach Jordan is amazing on Tuesdays and Sundays — his teaching style is clear, detail-oriented, and super engaging. Every class feels like I walk away with something concrete to improve. Overall, this gym has
MBJJ has been such a great experience for both me and my 7 year old son. From the moment we walked in, everyone was super welcoming and made us feel like we’ve been a part of the community. My son absolutely loves going to class and his confidence has grown so much since he started. The coaches are a great balance of challenging while still encouraging them and making it fun. For me, I was nervous about starting something as a complete beginner but the classes have been awesome. The coaches are patient, supportive, and never make you feel out of place. I’ve actually started looking forward to training and has been a huge confidence boost for me too. We can’t say enough about coach Pedro and his team. As a parent and student a special thanks to coach K (Kaua) who’s a great instructor, knowledgeable, super friendly, and has high expectations for students. Thank you!
I spent a few years researching multiple schools before deciding where to bring my son for Jiu Jitsu. As a former fighter and lifelong martial artist, I was looking for more than just good technique — I wanted a true community, and coaches who genuinely know how to work with kids. Teaching adults and teaching children are two completely different worlds, and I wanted to make the right choice. Professor Pedro and his staff are absolutely fantastic with kids. They’re patient but firm, clear with their instruction, and the level of Jiu Jitsu they teach is top-notch. What impressed me most is the culture they’ve built — every child shows a high level of respect, and the way the coaches interact with them is truly special. My son has only been training there for a few months, and I can honestly say it’s been one of the best experiences of his life. It’s been incredible watching him grow, learn, and gain confidence. They teach the kids to be
Finding a place where you can truly trust someone with your child is rare, but Professor Pedro made that decision effortless for our family. The care, patience, and professionalism he shows on the mats are beyond anything we’ve ever experienced. Our son is autistic, and from the very first day, Professor Pedro treated him with a level of respect, understanding, and kindness that brought tears to my eyes. He created an environment where my son feels safe, confident, and excited to learn. Seeing his progress — not only in jiu-jitsu, but in focus, discipline, and happiness — has been one of the greatest gifts to us as parents. This isn’t just a jiu-jitsu academy. It’s a community. A family. And in my heart, this is the best jiu-jitsu academy in the entire United States. If you want excellence, real results, and a teacher who genuinely cares, you will not find anyone better than Professor Pedro.”
I spent a month training here and wish I could stay longer. The gym is clean, and Pedro, the owner, is always friendly and full of energy for jiu jitsu. The atmosphere is positive, and the training partners are great. Pedro’s black belt friends also teach, giving you the chance to learn something new every day. If you’re looking for a place where you feel welcomed from day one, this is it. Every class is motivating and fun, and there’s a real sense of community. They also offer women-only classes, making it a supportive environment for everyone!
