Adaptive BJJ Program; Dedicated Kids Competition Pathway

I both train here and bring my daughter and son. I’ve trained for over 2 years, although remotely during the early pandemic. Both as an adult reviewer and a parent, I’m happy to give Marco Nascimento BJJ 5-stars. I’ve also trained at another BJJ gym and many other martial arts schools in different states and even out of the country since I was 18. For this review, I’ll break it up into two categories, for children + parents and then for adults. For children + parents: Not all martial arts are the same and not all schools within the same martial art are going to be the same. BJJ is about grappling and is close contact, so your child needs to be ready for that. The good news is that young kids, my daughter started at 4, can adapt to this surprisingly quickly. And it can still be a great fit for a girly girl as long as she’s ready to be active, just as well as a young boy. Christina Nascimento teaches many of the kids classes and does an a
I've been incredibly fortunate to find this academy. Joe Rogan podcasts, especially with Navy Seal Jocko talking about Brazilian jiu jitsu brought me here. I too wanted "superpowers." I haven't really needed much self-defense knowledge in general. I have been fortunate to be a suburban gangster most of my life. But I once read that a person needs three hobbies. One to make money with, one to be creative with and one to stay fit with. I've always loved sports and played competitively in school so hey, why not learn one of the most bad ass martial arts to ever hit the world? Jiu jitsu cut through all the fluff from aikido to karate to all the other bullshido out there. As an art and science, jiu jitsu is rooted in self-defense and practical application. You drill and spar. Nothing but empiricism and reality. Anddd it was gentle enough to allow for a lifetime of training which you can't exactly say about the striking disciplines. So I went
I don't write a lot of reviews but I would be remiss in recommending this club, my second home. I have been training BJJ with Marco for over 12 years. I have never trained anywhere else except when traveling and do a drop in at a local gym. I say this because I cannot give you a comparative review of how this gym stands against others. But I can relate the following: 1. Excellent Instruction. From beginner to advanced, from white to black, whether you are starting out or need a new club at which to train, Marco has cultivated a customized curriculum for all of us. He understands that not all of us want to be MMA fighters or BJJ competition champions. His love for the sport and martial art means he wants everyone no matter how old, what size, how athletic you are, to enjoy and come to love BJJ. From the warm ups to the drills to the eventual sparring sessions, Marco is always there to help and support you. 2. Welcoming Environment. When
I've been training with Marco since 2006... started as a white belt and am now a brown belt. It's testimony enough that I live 20+ miles from the gym and yet have never seriously considered training anywhere else. The atmosphere is truly great - everyone is there to support each other and help people learn. There's a cross section of people training for competition, for self defense, or just for exercise, but they all work together as a team that's like a family. Marco personally teaches many of the classes, and is always coaching and available to answer questions. It's rare in the BJJ world to see a 6th degree black belt with that much engagement in the class. When we reopen July 1, I would strongly recommend anyone of any experience level with an interest in BJJ to come and check us out.
We absolutely love this Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu studio! Coach Christina, the owner and one of the head coaches, is truly exceptional with kids. Somehow she memorizes every child’s name right away — it’s such a small detail, but it makes the kids feel seen and valued from the moment they walk in and grabs her attention and they listen better. She has an incredible balance of structure and fun. She knows how to keep the group focused, engaged, and moving with purpose, while still making each class enjoyable and positive. The environment she creates is perfect for young athletes — supportive, energetic, and truly conducive to learning. Our kids have grown in confidence and skills since joining. We couldn’t be happier with our experience here and highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a truly outstanding program for their children! 💪🥋✨
Marco and his wife Christina have put in a lot of work to make this bjj gym feel welcoming and open. I've rolled at several gyms and I've never quite felt as comfortable as I do here. Everyone is relaxed and willing to help. Marco and his instructors are amazing teachers. The building is quite large with a massive first floor covered in mats as well as another large room covered in mats on the second level. The mats are sanitized after every class. The first floor features bleacher style seating for friends and family to watch. There is a TV and webcam for remote learning over Zoom.
