Tl;Dr: Best bjj school in the area with a huge open mat space and numerous black belts. Stacked schedule including Brazilian jiu-jitsu, judo, striking that's all included in tuition. Facility: Huge. In industrial building, 2 big white mats that can be divided in half for two classes if needed. Big open space, roll up doors for air, 2 bathrooms, 2 changing rooms, kids play room, relaxation room. 1 striking (hanging) bag, plenty of pads/gloves to borrow. Mats cleaned and mopped by students after classes. There are like 7 black belt professors (more than I had seen on a mat before) that train and help teach here. No egos, super talented, all can lead a class well. If you care about lineage, Tom Cronin is a black belt directly under Master Carlson Gracie Jr., who of course is under Master Carlson Gracie Sr., a legend. We enrolled our son (9) and daughter (12) at this academy a little over a year ago and it's honestly been one of the best decisions we've ever made. The entire team has been instrumental in our children's success, both on the training mat and at competitions. My wife and I were both multi-sport athletes, but neither of us ever practiced or competed in combat sports so while we weren't sure what to expect, we both understood what effective teaching/training looked like. This is by far the best jiujitsu facility in Riverside county and one of the best in California, which is a hot bed for jiujitsu talent. What makes it truly stand out is the chief instructor Tom Cronin. Tom is a multiple time IBJJF world champion who is devoted to making people better in BJJ. We learned about this school when one of my boys went against one of his kids several years ago and was beaten. The next week we checked out the Carlson Gracie school and haven’t looked back since. This is by far the best place to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The team atmosphere is amazing. I felt very welcomed since my first visit. People here train hard and that reflects the high level of jiu jitsu that is taught here. They're serious about the sport and dedicated to helping you achieve your best. World Champion Professor Tom Cronin is highly respected in the community and is one of the highest ranking black belts on the Carlson Gracie team. He not only helps you learn the proper techniques of the game, but also helps get your mental game in order, engineering you into the best person you can be, both on and off the mats. OSSSSS!
My son and I started training here recently. It’s been great having jiu jitsu as something we can do together. We often get home and continue practicing what we learned. It’s been a great bonding experience for us. Carlson Gracie has so many classes available. It makes it very convenient because my work schedule is so crazy. Professor Tom, Professor Pedro, and Professor Tino are amazing and very skilled. I think it rubs off on the students. Everyone wants you to succeed. Often times the students will give me pointers. I appreciate it very much being that this is the first time I started training any type of martial arts. I can definitely see the progression in my son and I. Can’t thank the Professors enough.
3 of my kids, 8&10 (boys) and my oldest daughter (13) have been training BJJ for a year prior to starting at Carlson Gracie Temecula. Professor Tom and his team welcomed them with open arms. In the last 4 months, they all improved more than I could ever imagine. The biggest improvements has been with my boys. My 10 year old previous competed in four tournaments and only had two wins total. With just 4 months of quality training under Carlson Gracie Temecula, he won double gold at JJWL this month, and my 8 year old also won his first gold. My 13 year old daughter won her first double gold as a grey belt too. We started my 5 year old daughter in February and she also competed. She didn't medal but she won a match 23-2. The evidence speaks for itself.
