We all know So Cal has the top BJJ academies in the nation and after visiting more than a hand full, we decided on Conde Koma. My son’s BJJ game has improved dramatically since making the move over to Conde Koma. Recently my two daughters also joined the Checkmat team and simply love it here. The attention the instructors and coaches show their students is second to none! Conde Koma is very family orientated and this creates such a close bond between students, parents and instructors. We love it here and would recommend Conde Koma to anyone whether they are a beginner or an advanced BJJ practitioner. If you’re not training here at Conde Koma, you are not improving your game!!! Sincerely, Al Cancino
I was looking for a new gym, since my old one closed, and I gave Conde Koma a shot. E-mail communication was easy. I was able to set up a time and sign the waivers online. I ended up trying out a morning class. The mats are top notch (these are probably some of the nicest mats at any gym I've been to), the instructor was friendly, and the other students were very welcoming. After 1 trial class, I asked if I could try a 2nd class, and was told yes. There was no hard sell, no push to do anything, just general good vibes. Ultimately, I decided to go to a different gym based on personal preferences, but my experience with Conde Koma was excellent.
Conde Koma is the best gym I've trained at. It's a blend of a beginner friendly environment while having great coaching that can make you advanced and competitive. Many members at the gym regularly win gold at competitions. There's a ton of purple, brown, and black belts who have trained here for years and are also happy to help out and work with newcomers. Most gyms don't have this many upper belts which says a lot about Conde Koma. Also, it's worth noting that injuries are very rare at this gym because we tend to focus on using technique and helping others rather than using strength. If you're a friendly person and thinking about trying BJJ or looking for a new gym to join, I would highly recommend Conde Koma.
We were looking for a place for my daughter to learn self-defense. What we found at Conde Koma was so much more. The atmosphere is team oriented, the owners make everyone feel welcome and the instruction is truly exceptional. The instructors care about the kids and create an environment that is fun to be in while teaching them respect, discipline and the art of BJJ. My daughter's overwhelming positive experience motivated my wife and I to train. I am happy to say we've caught the BJJ bug and are absolutely loving it. But don't take my word for it - come by the gym and see why my daughter says Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is her "new favorite sport".
I was in Southern California on vacation and ended up training at Conde Koma! Best place to train, and they are CheckMat, who happens to be the best team of the world. I ended up training there for a few days and I met the owner who was really nice and the black belts clearly loved teaching. Leandro and Robynho are clearly in it for the love. I am looking forward to my next vacation in Southern California so I can stop by and say hi to my new extended family!
I did a last minute drop in at the Saturday 9am class. Very family oriented. Very clean and Very friendly group. Awesome class and tough rolls. Definitely gonna be my go to when I’m in town.
