I currently attend a different gym in Menifee, Ca. and this weekend my daughter participated in JJWL tournament in San Diego. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a coach for the tournament so my daughter (9 yrs old) was nervous and standing alone kinda confused. The event photographer noticed that and asked Jimmy if he could coach her for her last match. My daughter ended up winning that match! After the match Jimmy stayed with her all the way to the podium until a parent showed up. I have never met anyone from six blades San Pedro BJJ, but for them to step in at a moment’s notice to coach a little girl they didn’t know speaks volumes about what a class act they are. I can’t express the gratitude I have for their help. Thank you, Hector Arellano
Sensei Brian Mendez is the most passionate, caring and survival realistic instructor I have trained with in California. I have been training with him since 2015 and have been very happy and thankful for the years of training under him. He is also a 2 Purple Heart veteran that sacrificed for our country and fought for our rights keeping the academy for people to continue to train to help deal with these times. He puts his all into his students reaching their potentials as martial artists. If you want to train under a black belt that deeply loves our country and stands up for our constitutional rights. Will teach you real efficient self defense as well as guide you to winning tournaments if that is your goal. And for a academy that all around wants to develop you into your full martial arts potential then Six Blades Jiu Jitsu San Pedro is that place.
My daughter absolutely loves attending this jiu-jitsu class since 2023, and as a parent, I couldn’t be happier with her progress! The instructors are patient, encouraging, and fantastic at teaching kids discipline, confidence, and self-defense in a fun and safe environment. The recent updated gym is beautiful, clean, modern, and perfectly designed for training. Since joining, I’ve seen her grow not only in skill but also in focus, respect, and perseverance. The classes are structured yet engaging, and the sense of camaraderie among the students is wonderful. Whether your child is brand new to martial arts or looking to advance their skills, this is the perfect place for them to thrive!
Clean dojo, jujitsu, judo and guest instructors make for a well rounded bjj practice. Technique instruction is awesome, clear, and I always feel comfortable asking questions to get a better understanding. My 9 year old has been training here for years and she loves coming, it’s fun yet technical, she feels strong, helps her mentally and physically, maintains her confidence, discipline and self defense skills which are VERY important for me. I also have been training her for years, as a woman I feel respected, SAFE and encouraged. It’s a very supportive environment, I encourage anyone to come try. Sensei Brian and coach Tara are both very passionate and considerate. Love this place!
Veteran owned and operated providing a warm welcome to any and all interested in self defense and combat sports especially juijitsu. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a Juijitsu gym to call home or drop in. Just check your ego at the door bc otherwise you might not see the best part which is being treated like family. As an active duty service member preparing to come home for retirement dropping in felt like not just being home in old school Los Angeles / Long Beach but it had the camaraderie of being at the teams or a platoon. Kids classes were safe yet challenging as I brought my son and he had a blast learning new techniques and movements. Definitely a family oriented spot.
