I can't say enough great things about Long Beach Jiu Jitsu...Professor Marvin is extremely knowledgeable about all facets of martial arts and a wiz on the mats when it comes to brazilian jiu jitsu...It doesn't matter if your brand new to the art or have been training for a few years ; he will tailor your work out so you maximize your time and effort on the mat...Every single time I roll w Prof. Marvin i learn something new and walk away feeling more accomplished....I highly recommend LB Jiu Jitsu.....go try it out you have nothing to lose and everything to gain !!!!
Sensei/Coach Marvin is amazing. He is fantastic at engaging children students of all ages (Not to mention adult students as well). You can see that Jiu Jitsu means a great deal to Marvin, and I wouldn't want anyone else teaching my four year old other than him. Since taking his first Jiu Jitsu class three months ago (his own decision), he has been exploring more of his surroundings with a finer tuned body. He respects discipline more. He never likes missing class. I don't know what we would do without Marvin and Long Beach Jiu Jitsu!
I came out to long beach to visit my family and I was looking for a place to to drop in and train and i found that in Long beach jiu jitsu. The mat space is clean, the students are all welcoming, and professor Lee is awesome (a legitimate black belt who is always looking to expand his knowledge). Would highly recommend this spot to anyone who is visiting or looking to start training.
I’ve been training bjj with Marvin for over 5 years, he runs a great school with friendly and welcoming students. The atmosphere of the academy reflects his personality, he is always smiling and treating his students with the utmost respect. There is no other bjj school in the area that has the same quality of skilled practitioners thanks to Marvin’s dedication to bringing his students to a higher level every time they train.
My son Liam has been going here for a little over six months. Marvin is great in coaching kids and training them. He works with kids on every level. My kid was getting bullied in school and since coming here he had become more confident in himself. I would highly recommend this place to every parent. Every child should have some self defense training especially if they are in grade school. I am looking forward to my little girl going here soon.
I've been training here for years; I started off with the taekwondo program when I was a kid, then transitioned into Jiu-Jitsu as I got older. I can honestly say that I would not be half the martial artist I am today without the amazing instruction I've received at this academy. Billy and all the other instructors do an awesome job of engaging each student on a personal level and are constantly pushing them to surpass their limits, allowing them to reach goals they once thought impossible. Ten out of ten =)
