If youโre thinking about taking up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or getting your kids into it, Professor Alexโs professionalism and dedication to his students are second to none. As great as an instructor he is with the adult classes, Professor Alex is even better with the kids classes. His teaching style makes even the more difficult techniques easier and fun to learn. Even if you donโt live in the Garden Grove area, no matter how long the drive time is to get to Gracie Barra Garden Grove, the opportunity to learn from Professor Alex, his coaches and to train with the Team will absolutely be worth it. ๐๐ช๐ #graciebarra #jiujitsu #bjj #brazilianjiujitsu #jiujitsufamily #blackbelt #martialarts #gbgardengrove
This is the best BJJ school!!! My son has been here for almost 5 years. The coaches are very nice and approachable, Coach Alex always conduct kids classes with focus on technique and discipline combined with playful and friendly environment. And that makes the kids not wanting to miss any classes. This makes kids' journey on learning jiu-jitsu much easier. Teaching jiu-jitsu is one of the hardest thing to teach, especially for kids, and not all black belt and not all champions can teach it. But Coach ALEX can REALLY TEACH (even kids)!! Whether you're looking to learn self-defense, or for fitness or even going for competition. The coaches know how to make you reach your goals. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place.
I was looking for a fun, practical way to get back in shape. UFC inspired me to check out my nearest Gracie studio. I called ahead to Gracie Barra in Garden Grove to express my interest, and they graciously agreed to let me audit one of their classes. I attended the adult, no gi Jiu Jitsu class held on Thursday evenings. I felt both challenged and welcomed by the coaches and students. Unfortunately, a new work schedule has me on a regular shift that doesn't end until the class is over. If provided the opportunity, I would love to continue training with these guys. Thanks to Alex and the crew for welcoming me into their studio!
If you want to get into a martial arts or jiu jitsu I highly recommend Gracie Barra in Garden Grove. I have known and been involved for 7 years since I was 19 and everyone is treated like family. Not only is the instructor knowledgable and cute (to all the ladies) ;) But it is a great atmosphere to learn and grow. If your new and scared this is the most welcoming group of individuals working together to improve everyone's level and goals. I know I was scared but I have never felt so welcomed and was fortunate to grow and evolve with an ever changing group of individuals. This group is a family, and not just a class. I highly recommend trying out a class here! I guarantee you will want more! And if you hate the gym...this will get you in shape!!
I've been at Gracie Barra Garden Grove for a few months now; previously I trained at another academy and would drop-in about once a week at GBGG. Eventually, those once a week drop-ins turned to training all week at the academy. From the very beginning Professor Alex was very friendly, enthusiastic, and welcoming. You can see the passion, dedication and motivation Alex has for teaching/training Jiu-Jitsu; especially when it comes to the kids program. Whatever you're goals are (competing, self-defense, working out, etc.) Alex and the team here are dedicated to helping you achieve them. You will not find another academy with the unique atmosphere at GBGG
Google only lets me post one review but Iโve returned here about a year later for another class and itโs the same great place it was before. Highly recommend checking these guys out! Professor Alex and Justin were great - thanks for letting me train again! ๐๐ฅ๐ TLDR: 5 stars, great vibes, awesome instruction, safe and friendly place to train. These guys train hard but are not looking to injure anyone. All the black belts were super fun to roll with and all play very high-level games. These guys will smash you but nobody is ripping subs or being crazy. All around an awesome gym. Iโve heard about funky Gracie Barra gyms with weird rules and mandatory GB gear even for drop ins. That was not my experience here which was great. ๐ค๐ฝ I took a drop in gi and nogi class as Iโm here from out of town. If I lived here Iโd train with these guys often. Sick gym with great people. Highly recommend checking this place out!!! ๐ค๐ฝ๐ค๐ฝ๐ฅ๐ฅ
