Unsure if your child will like Jiu Jitsu? Nervous about which gym is the best fit? I was there too. Try a free private lesson and class at A-team and you won't regret it. I've wanted my 8-year-old son to do Jiu Jitsu for years but he was always shy and timid about it. I've known about the stellar education the kids receive at A-team from three of my nieces that have been training here for years, and one day I simply decided to finally force my son to try it, haha :) Once we met with Coach CJ and took the free private lesson, I could tell my son felt immediately comfortable with him and was having a blast. After the first free introductory class, we immediately signed up for a membership and for the past 6 months, my son has been working harder than I've ever seen him work, and non-stop smiling through it all. My son asks to go every day and hates when we occasionally can't make it to class. As a pediatrician and father of 3 kids, I like
I’ve been training at A-Team Jiu Jitsu for almost two years, and it’s been a great place to learn and grow. From day one, the instruction stood out. The coaches take the time to explain details, adjust techniques based on body type and experience, and focus on techniques that actually work. The style is pressure heavy and control focused, which I really enjoy. The gym is clean and well run, and the people make it easy to keep coming back. Everyone is respectful, welcoming, and focused on improving. There are a lot of high-level black belts on the mat, so every class feels like a real learning opportunity. Classes are structured in a way that makes sense. The beginner class helps build and reinforce fundamentals, while the advanced class goes deeper into techniques, systems, and strategy for both self defense and competition. Overall, it’s a solid academy with great instruction and a strong culture.
My son was invited to train at A-Team after he stopped playing club soccer. We have been with A-Team for about six months now and have found the instructors and the program to be superb. The families that train here are welcoming and supportive and the instructors do not tolerate poor behavior. Coach CJ, Coach Angelo, and Master Ali are all wonderful with the kids. They are patient and excellent at giving instruction - each move is explained and modeled step by step, re-modeled by the kids, they check for understanding, and then have the kids practice until proficient. They ensure there is plenty of sparring and fun built into the training. After having experienced years with club soccer, it was refreshing to see instruction based on proven learning techniques for children - something sorely lacking in SoCal soccer. And the instruction is not at the cost of competition, A-Team is consistently at the top of the podium during tournaments.
This is a family gym. Professor Ali, Coach CJ, Coach Angelo and Coach Luis have coached my family and myself at many tournaments. Ali impressed the importance of discipline, confidence, focus and school work in the kids class which helped to build confidence and the ability to defend themselves in my girls. They are thriving in school and life and I want to thank Master for Ali for all he has done for my family. I am grateful and thankful to be part of A-Team Jiu Jitsu. I would recommend this gym to anyone with kids to bring their family here!
Coach CJ, Coach Luis, and Coach Chris are amazing coaches. They have so much knowledge and teach my girls in a way they can truly understand. Most importantly, my girls are able to apply what they learn right away when they’re rolling and sprawling. The biggest change I’ve noticed since they joined is how much confidence they’ve gained in themselves—along with a strong respect for others. If you’re looking for a jiu-jitsu gym with highly knowledgeable coaches who treat your child like family while still being firm and structured, A-Team Jiu Jitsu is the place to be.
I'm very happy that I found A Team back when I was looking for a new school, all the staff is very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I moved from my homecountry just to be able to train at A Team on regular basis. Both Master Ali and Coach CJ have years and years of experience in the fight game and their teaching skills and knowledge are world class and they are hands down the best teachers I've ever had. If you want to learn bjj either for competition or just for fun, there's no better option than them. With a great environment to learn, amazing instructors, a nice facility.... A-Team Jiu Jitsu is the place to be!
