James Martial Arts Academy is one of the best decisions we've ever made for our kids. The classes go far beyond just teaching them some martial arts - they have helped them with confidence, respect, and determination. Sifu Darryl is an incredible mentor and leader and we couldn't be more grateful for the influence he is becoming in our kids lives. He is extremely kind, patient, yet FIRM and pushes the kids in a way that truly serves their best interests. He's a wonderful human being and an amazing martial arts instructor! He, as well as the other instructors here, clearly care so much about the kids they teach and it shows beyond a doubt. You and your kids will love being part of his programs!
Over the past 8 years, because of my work, I have trained at numerous prominent martial arts academies across the world ... and none have actually been more impressive than the James Martial Arts Academy (JMAA). At JMAA, the center is clean, properly maintained, available, and parking-friendly. I enjoy the class schedule and the range of karate, self-defense techniques, and foot work incorporated in their training. Sifu Darryl is caring, educated, extensive, and accommodating to everybody's size, conditioning and skill level. The group includes strong athletes of all rankings who are unified, playful, and inviting. I am proud to train with such devoted and incredible people. I've never ever been more motivated to go to a school every day. Thank you to the JMAA Family!
I do not know exactly what made me think to try karate. I was tired of the gym and the hamster-wheel feeling I had each time I went. What was next in my progression? Adding another riser to my action? I checked out the James Martial Arts Academy and was impressed. The specific personal session gave me an idea of exactly what I 'd remain in for, and I was surprised that I registered that very same day. I ** never ever ** register for anything on the spot. But I felt comfortable and fired up to not just get more fit but to find out something beneficial along the way. The progression of testing to earn a new belt was appealing too-- you can actually see that you are finding out and advancing. And you learn things immediately helpful, in addition to building skills that take practice to master. In a nutshell - centrally located, easy to get into, great parking (exactly what !? yes, truly!), great instructor, respectful and supportive classm
My daughter has been attending for almost two months now, and the teacher is absolutely amazing. The helpers are wonderful too! My daughter is very shy, but they’ve really worked with her to make her feel comfortable in class. She doesn’t talk much during lessons, but she keeps up well. When she needs extra help, the teacher takes the time to work with her during or after class. Even with a class full of students, he’s incredibly patient and clearly passionate about his work. The only thing I wish is that the kids could practice their techniques more with each other, but overall, the classes are fantastic!
An amazing experience. I started with James Martial Arts to become more physically fit and have added training in Karate, Kung Fu, and Stick Fighting. I never imagined martial arts to be so life changing; physically, mentally and emotionally. He sets a wonderful example to all of his students and families in what it takes to succeed in life and be the best person you can be. The school community is very warm and friendly. He offers group and individual classes in martial arts and fitness. I guarantee you won't regret it! I would recommend the James Kosho-Ryu Academy for adults and kids alike!
Sifu Darryl is the ideal martial arts instructor. His demeanor is friendly, approachable, respectable and fun; while at the same time firm and accountable. Sifu's ability to teach young kids to have fun while simultaneously challenging them to follow instructions and learn is simply outstanding. As an adult student, Sifu's style incorporates many forms of martial arts which helps me incorporate my previous training. If you're considering a martial arts studio in this area, then be sure to stop by and try his class for yourself. I'm confident you'll enjoy your experience.
