My kids train at Adayama Jiu Jitsu and we’ve had an incredible experience. Marty, the instructor, is truly one of a kind. He’s not only skilled and knowledgeable in Jiu Jitsu, but also extremely patient and attentive with the kids. You can tell he genuinely cares about each student and their progress. One thing I really appreciate is how seriously he takes safety. He creates an environment where the kids can push themselves, learn discipline, and grow in confidence without ever feeling unsafe or overwhelmed. It’s clear that he has a lot of experience working with children and knows how to strike the right balance between structure and fun. The atmosphere at Adayama is welcoming, supportive, and focused on building character just as much as technique. My kids look forward to every class, and as a parent, that says everything. I couldn’t recommend this place more highly for anyone looking to get their kids into Jiu Jitsu with an instructo
We’ve been so impressed with this jiu-jitsu studio! Even though it’s still fairly new, you can already feel the strong sense of community that’s forming here. It’s welcoming, supportive, and filled with people who truly want to help each other grow. Professor Marty, the owner and main instructor, sets the tone. His passion for jiu-jitsu and for building a positive environment really shines through. He’s knowledgeable, approachable, and great with students of all ages. It’s also incredibly family-friendly. Our kids absolutely love the energy in the kids’ classes! Professor Marty and the team do an amazing job keeping things fun and engaging while teaching important skills and discipline. It’s been so rewarding to watch their confidence and excitement grow each week. Whether you’re brand new or have experience, this is a fantastic place to train. We’re so glad to be part of this growing community and can’t wait to see where it goes next!
Marty’s Jiu Jitsu Studio is awesome! Coach Marty is super knowledgeable, patient, and makes every class fun while still pushing you to improve. The people here are really friendly and welcoming—no ego, just good vibes and great training. Whether you’re new to Jiu Jitsu or have been training for years, this place is perfect. The techniques are taught clearly, the mats are always clean, and you can tell Marty really cares about his students. I’ve learned so much and always leave class feeling motivated. Highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to train!
Being brand new to bjj, I didn’t know what to expect when walking into Adayama. I was nervous for sure. But the moment I walked across that door for my first class, I felt like I belonged. Marty and his team have been amazing, so supportive and welcoming! Going to be training here for a very long time! My son also is in the kids class and absolutely loves it! I’ve never seen him put down a game controller so fast except when I say to go get his Gi for jiu jitsu. If you’re new to bjj or want to get your kids into it, you will not go wrong at Adayama Jiu Jitsu!
I’ve had an amazing experience at Adayama! From the moment I met Professor Marty, he’s been kind, informative, and incredibly encouraging. As someone new to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), I really appreciate how the classes are structured and taught in a way that’s easy to understand and follow. Beyond the learning, it’s also a fantastic workout and the community here is truly special. Adayama has been wonderful for my kids too! They have a blast, have made new friends, and even after just a couple of weeks, I can already see the lessons of BJJ—like discipline, self-control, and integrity—taking root in their daily lives. Come give it a try and roll with us—you won’t regret it!
So excited to see high-level instruction and a beautiful academy finally arrive in Rancho San Diego! Professor Marty is amazing and teaches technique in a clear, retainable way, whether you’re new or already a black belt. He’s also an active competitor, which is rare to see these days from a 15 year veteran of the sport. I love that Adayama has a dedicated kids class right before the adult class to allow the whole family to train. My 6 year old daughter has gained so much confidence and discipline, and I (41) have finally gotten back into shape thanks to jiu jitsu. Highly recommend for any one of any age.
