I recently had the pleasure of visiting a fantastic gym that truly stands out for its welcoming atmosphere and skilled instructors. From the moment I stepped inside, I was impressed by how clean and safe the environment felt, both on and off the mats. The well-lit parking lot provided high visibility, making it easy to access the gym without any concerns. During an open mat session, I was pleasantly surprised by several perks that made the experience even more enjoyable. The professor’s wife baked delicious cookies, which added a nice touch of hospitality to the day. The professor himself took the time to demonstrate some essential half guard movements, which turned out to be fundamental techniques that I found incredibly helpful. He was also very encouraging, urging us to roll with everyone present, fostering a supportive and inclusive training atmosphere. One of the highlights of the day was the arrival of a fairly large women’s group
Highly recommend this academy for grapplers of all levels - either as a home academy for local practitioners or as a drop-in for those needing a welcome place to train while traveling. Zac is a highly skilled martial artist and has a passion for sharing this knowledge with all who walk through the doors of the academy. The academy has a solid fundamentals program appropriate for entry level grapplers and as refresher training for those more experienced. The academy also features a more in-depth grappling laboratory that is among the most substantive and content-rich programs in the DFW metroplex. There are no cult-like rules, rituals or other diatribes that make the experience on the mats less fulfilling - just good people, a community, and really good jiu jitsu. Highly recommend.
Great place to go train, excellent culture. If we lived closer we would train there. As it is coach Zac holds a fight camp for kids every Friday night and welcomes kids from all gyms. That was our exposure to this gym and we are very impressed with how he conduct the class and are aligned with him philosophically. If you are in the area and looking to get your kids into BJJ give this gym a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

They are highly skilled practitioners but also fantastic teachers who know how to engage children and adults alike. Everything in the facility is neat, tidy, and well cared for! Vacationing in the area for the holidays and found this place by chance through instagram. Not many places were open on 12/26, so I was happy to find Roanoke Jiu-jitsu. I dropped in on a 5:45 am class, I reached out a day or so prior and heard back very quickly. Handful of guys at this class - which makes sense as to why so many academies are closed during the holidays. Great group of guys, tough and technical rolls, and solid instruction. Thank you to coach Kurtis, Cory and Chris. Appreciate the hospitality and rolls! 🤙🤙🤙
