I figured I give it a year before providing feedback on the academy, so here it is. I wanted to start bjj for the longest time and finally made the decision a year ago. Professor Buddy Roberts, Coach Miller, Coach Rachael, Coach Joe and Coach Steve are exceptional instructors who are well versed in the art of Jui Jitsu and follow the Gracie Barra Philosophy. They bring all of us together, giving us a sense of family and fraternity. The training times are accommodating to our work schedules as there are morning classes, mid-day classes and evening classes. Joining Gracie Barra Burleson is like joining a second family. If you're looking for a place to learn self defense, get in shape, and build your confidence in a family friendly enviroment look no further. Jiu Jitsu for everyone!
Now that my girls’ ONE YEAR Jiu Jitsu anniversary has come and gone just this month- I am leaving an honest review and I am confident in saying that they will celebrate MANY MORE anniversaries here at GB Burleson! The coaches and the team at GB Burleson are hands down THE BEST! It’s a “family” vibe. My girls attend the fundamentals, advanced, and drills classes offered during the week. They’ve had a few private lessons as well as have competed in 5 competitions just this past year- I’ve seen so many big accomplishments and growth!! Mentally, physically, and emotionally. I have attended the free Women’s Only Self Defense class- so much good information. In today’s world, this is a highly recommended class! Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu Burleson teaches self defense, respect, and confidence. In addition, you may gain some new friends along the way. We love GB Burleson!
We picked this place out for our son and could not be happier with this facility. The teachers make it FUN FUN FUN for the kids and our son has a permanent smile on his face the entire class. The classes for kids are well managed, professional, and have a very friendly group of children. They help each other learn and laugh and welcome new comers with open arms. The parents and staff all welcomed us with open arms too and we have really enjoyed attending classes every night. Our son is totally hooked on Jiu-Jitsu now. Thank You Gracie Barra Burleson for offering an incredible Jiu-Jitsu gym in our community. You guys are amazing!
Professor Buddy is the trainer you want your kids to be coached by. One can see it by the way he teaches kids how to conduct themselves, learning jiu-jitsu, learn respect, teamwork. WOW! There is so much I can say about him, but that would be unfair to the rest of the amazing coaches that give their 200%. My son that lacked self-esteem and doubted himself a lot in six months has become a kid afraid of nothing. He accepts challenges without doubting himself. I suspect it was due to the constant competition he gets every Thursday; he gets pushed to his limits going against kids of different sizes. One advice I have to parents is to get there 20min before class begins, the parking lot is small, so you'd likely end up parking next to Taco casa or next to the driving school parking lot-they don't like it-.
When first stepping foot into the Gracie Barra Gym I could have never guessed how much jiujitsu, and the way it is instructed at the gym would change me for the better. Not only was able to realize that I got an amazing workout, but I also understood that I was changing as a person. Professor Buddy, Coach Rachel, Coach Miller, and Coach Steve teach more than just the gentle art, they teach morals. From the Tiny Champions to GB2, people who participate and people who watch their children/siblings/significant others roll, learn to have respect, integrity and responsibility. We learn how to protect ourselves and better ourselves. Upon signing up, the school will give you a gi and belt. From then on out it is up to YOU to put in the work and work your way up the chain. Nothing is just given here, it is earned. If you have been looking for a place to train and wouldn’t mind being apart of a new family that only wants to see you grow, then yo
Gracie Barra has been one of the best things I have ever done for my daughter. She is only 9 but has been through a lot in her life that has caused to lose her confidence and have childhood anxiety. We tried many other sports and she just didn’t like them. She absolutely loves Gracie so much she asks to go everyday during the week and a lot of that goes to the coaches. There isn’t a coach there that hasn’t made an impact on her. We have been here a year and Tristen’s confidence now has increased so much even her school work has improved! Gracie Barra isn’t just a jiujitsu gym, it is family to us and we will be here forever 💙
