I came back to Jiu Jitsu after a two-year layoff, and I was hesitant about resuming training, I spoke with Coach Nate personally, about my training history, injuries, and so forth, and was set greatly at ease. From the moment I walked in the door I felt welcomed by the coaches, and my training partners. My first class at Sloth BJJ, after not being on the mat for two years, wasn’t a nerve-racking experience at all. Quite the contrary- I thoroughly enjoyed it. And I kept coming back. And I don’t intend to stop. Because these guys have a really great thing going. You’re going to feel welcomed when you come train at Sloth BJJ. You’re going to get quality instruction from gifted Coaches who have a tremendous amount of technical knowledge about Jiu Jitsu. You’ll train with great training partners in a fantastic atmosphere, and your jiu jitsu will improve. And you’ll have a lot of fun along the way. I can’t speak highly enough of these folks,
I was visiting from out of town for a conference nearby. I was looking for a place to train and came across Sloth BJJ. It was one of the most welcoming and respectful places that I’ve ever trained while out of town. It is similar to my current gym that I train at. I would recommend this to anyone who is starting fresh or who is experienced and looking for a place to train. Everyone that I met was very courteous and respectful. Sometimes with the BJJ community, ego can come in to training. Luckily, here that is not an issue. I would highly recommend this to anyone and I thank Sloth BJJ for their time and allowing me to train with them.
Contacted Nathan about dropping in while we were visiting Dallas for the weekend. Starting from the communication with him, to the visit to the gym, my experience was absolutely incredible. I have been to several world class Jiu Jitsu gyms as well as smaller gyms and honestly this has been by far one of the best. I could not have imagined visiting a gym from out of town and truly feeling like family upon my arrival. The Sloth team made me feel like I had been training there for years. Everyone was extremely welcoming, while being very tough, and great partners. If you are looking for highly technical training as well as a home away from home, look no further. If you are looking for somewhere for your family to train, I would not hesitate to come here. Thank you Nathan and thank you to the morning crew! I look forward to coming again. Give him a call, drop in, and give it a try. Adam M.
We were looking for a place to introduce the kids to BJJ and dropped in to Sloth BJJ and found a tremendous community and terrific environment. Even with large classes, there is always plenty of encouraging coaches that do a really good job of pushing the kids while still fostering a fun. This is very much a family environment , parents take interest in each others kids, and show support and encouragement as well. Ownership is honest and sincere, no hidden fees, or purchase requirements- just good folks who want to promote Jiu-Jitsu.
When I traveled to Dallas for a few weeks, I trained at Sloth BJJ as well as a few of the “competitive” BJJ gyms in town. Within a few classes, Sloth BJJ felt like home and I regretted ever stepping foot inside another gym in the area. The instruction is sharp, and students at every belt ranking are very friendly. The owner himself even waited after class multiple times for my Uber to arrive so that I wasn’t waiting outside in the cold alone. If I lived in Texas, my go-to for BJJ would be Sloth BJJ. It’s my #1 recommendation for anyone in the Dallas/Fort Worth areas.
Incredible instructors and amazing students. I started at Sloth about 10 months ago with no martial arts experience. I was a little intimidated by the idea of going into a BJJ school and getting thrown in with the sharks, but I was instantly impressed by how easy-going and laid back Nathan and his students were. I felt welcome immediately, and I really enjoyed learning technique from a top level BJJ instructor. Almost a year later, I'm in better shape, have lots of new friends, and I've actually learned a fair amount of Jiu Jitsu. I can't say enough about how great this school is. If you're interested in learning BJJ, come roll with us!
