Magness BJJ stands out as a premier Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy that caters to all levels from beginners to seasoned athletes. I have been training with my daughters and extended family since January 2023. One of the most notable aspects of this gym is its extensive class schedule. With mulitple classes offered every day of the week (and then some), it’s incredibly convenient for students of all ages to find a time that fits their busy lives. From a cost perspective, Magness BJJ is an exceptional value for the quality of training provided and the number of family members that can be included. Compared to other BJJ academies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, their pricing can't be beat. The heart of any martial arts program lies in its instructors. The coaches are passionate not only about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu but also about fostering a supportive environment where students feel motivated to learn and improve. It’s clear that the coaches are
I'm not going to wax superlatives on Magness BJJ, as with all my reviews I am just going to tell my experience with the place by the numbers and have you decide. Just a full disclosure, I am writing this review as a middle aged, non-competative office worker who is mainly interested in losing that covid weight gain and getting healthy again. I've been a student of the place for 7 months as of April 2022. 1. Location: its tucked in an industrial neighboorhood close to the highway and historic cedir hill. Super easy to get in and out (see picture of location) 2. Times and availability: there is a class every day of the week and then some. 3. Cost: for the type of training, facility and fellowship you get, this place is a bargain, much lower than most BJJ places in DFW. 4. Instruction: the coaches there are easy going, friendly and very passionate about BJJ; they are skilled in the many technical aspects of the art. They are keen in observ
I just started training at Magness Jiu-Jitsu, and I have to say this place is incredible! As a beginner, I was a little nervous walking in, but the atmosphere here is so welcoming and positive. The coaches are top-notch they are not only highly qualified but also patient and really great at breaking things down so you can understand both the techniques and the “why” behind them. You can tell they care about every student, no matter your level. What stands out most is the community vibe the more experienced students are supportive, and no one makes you feel out of place. Every class is structured, challenging, and fun, and I leave every time feeling stronger, both physically and mentally. If you’re thinking about trying jiu-jitsu, Magness is the place to go. It’s an amazing gym with amazing people. I’m excited to keep learning and improving here!
We have had all three of our children attend Magness and they are absolutely loving it. The training is so professional and they make sure each and every kid is always learning and enjoying it at the same time. It has given all three of my children confidence and that is because of the great training they have. Coach Michael alongside all the other training coaches are absolutely amazing and so patient with each and every kid in the class. Not only do they have classes for children but also have classes for adults. I have been going for the last couple months and I have seen the class grow everyday. If you're looking to put your children in something this is the place.
Came from another gym, started my children here first with no intentions of trying it myself. I put my children here to learn and possibly have fun with something I enjoy. After seeing how detailed the children’s classes were, I tried a class for myself and got more than I bargained for. The staff here are very knowledgeable, passionate and encouraging. They present the information very well and answer questions and if they don’t know the answer they will problem solve to find a solution. The culture is here awesome, it’s competitive but also chill vibes. The students here are also very helpful, they provide feed back and are very friendly. My children love it and have a lot of fun, their classes are very engaging. They instill structure, leadership and confidence in children and it’s awesome to see other children progress not only in jiujitsu or physically, but also socially. I wouldn’t hesitate to check it out and see for yourself.
Our 10 year old son wanted to try Jiu Jitsu. We could not be more grateful that our first experience has been at Magness. He’s been going for over a year and he is hooked! The culture at Magness is incredible, the elite of the elite train at Magness and yet our son felt completely comfortable and welcomed as a beginner. Kids are not an afterthought, they get personal attention and coaching from the top coaches including Magness. I’ve been thoroughly impressed with how they have created at environment that is extremely disciplined, challenging and tough while also being fun and welcoming.
