Carlos Machado Jiu-Jitsu in Carrollton is one of the best spots I’ve ever trained at. The facility is massive, super clean, and just beautiful—plenty of room on the mats, everything feels fresh and well-kept. They’ve got everything: gi and no-gi, adult classes, kids’ program, jiu-jitsu, striking options if you want to mix it up. Whether you’re just starting or leveling up, it fits perfectly. The vibe is so friendly and welcoming—everyone’s helpful, no egos, feels like a real family right away. The instruction is top-notch, and you can tell it’s coming from a legit lineage. Quick note if you’re new to the name: Master Carlos Machado is a true legend in BJJ—an 8th-degree coral belt, one of the highest ranks out there. I’ve only been training jiu-jitsu for about two years off and on, so I can only speak from the perspective of a beginner white belt. But I can say this: every single person I’ve met at Machado Jiu-Jitsu has been genuinely good, respectful, and encouraging. This gym is extremely accepting. Whether you’re brand new or experienced, you’re welcomed in, supported, and treated like you belong. I was able to attend an open mat on New Year’s Eve. I saw a post on instagram and reached out via text. I heard back quickly and was able to attend. It was a great open mat, I wish I was able to stay longer. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, the level of Jiu jitsu is very high at this academy. Got beat up a bunch and enjoyed the learning experiences. Thank you to Michael for beating me up but also taking the time to teach me as well - inside camping lesson both during the round and after. There aren’t many academies that have a master walking around and mingling with their students. I was so lucky to be able to talk with master Machado and take a pic with him.
