Mike has been a friend of mine for well over two decades, and I had the distinct privilege of training with him many years ago. Fast-forward to today, and he is now coaching my son (4) on the beginner techniques of BJJ. Mike is extremely patient with children regardless of skill level or strength, he's super gentle, and helps them learn new moves while empowering them to try it themselves. He has a wonderful knack for instilling confidence in the children in his class. My son looks forward to the weekly class, and loves Mike. From the youngest of students to grown adults, Mike can handle it all. He will always be our go-to coach.
I met Professor Mike in 2009 as a young kid. I immediately admired Mike's leadership and love for Jiujitsu and it's community. I developed character, confidence, self-esteem, and fundamentals of success under the leadership here. The GB Murfreesboro family is amazing and when I come into town I make sure that I jump into a few classes where I catch up with my old friends, meet new friends, and receive some of the best training in Middle Tennessee. It's not just a gym here, it's a family and a big supportive community.
Mike and the other coaches at GB Murfreesboro are all excellent and truly enjoy seeing their students grow and excel at jiu-jitsu. Mike shows a very deep understanding of BJJ and its history and does his absolute best to transfer it to others. Everyone I have trained with over the years there have been extremely level-headed and safe to train with. I could not recommend this gym more!
