I started going here to fulfill my 2019 new years resolution to exercise regularly. 9 months later, my resting heart rate had decreased from 86 to 64, and I lost about 50 pounds. I expected the atmosphere to be similar to a HS football locker room or weight room. I couldn't have been more wrong. Very non-broish, professional, and family friendly. I'm a 30 year old moderately athletic computer nerd. No martial arts background. Never been in a fight and never plan to. I fit in great, and haven't seen anyone walk through the door that didn't, however, I have no doubt that rude and/or disrespectful people would quickly be asked to leave. The coaches work to accommodate each persons individual goals, whether you're looking to be a professional fighter, or just trim your wasteline and have fun. Although they'll never boast about it, the coaches are world class competitors and have the ability to take their students to the highest levels of el
Phoenix MMA and Fitness is an excellent place for kids and families. My two sons and my daughter train here, and we are very happy with the experience. Coach Kevin teaches Jiu-Jitsu and is extremely experienced, professional, and patient with the kids. He knows how to explain techniques clearly and keeps the classes safe, disciplined, and fun. I have seen big improvements in my children’s confidence, fitness, and Jiu-Jitsu skills. The gym has a positive and supportive atmosphere, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for high-quality Jiu-Jitsu and MMA training.
Embarking on my martial arts journey at Phoenix MMA seven years ago was a decision that changed my life in ways I never imagined. Unlike conventional gyms, Phoenix MMA isn't just a place to learn techniques—it's a tight-knit community that feels like family, where growth extends beyond physical prowess to encompass mental fortitude and personal development. Under the mentorship of Head Coach Cory I've progressed from a complete novice to proudly holding a purple belt and competing in numerous competitions. But the true essence of Phoenix MMA lies in its holistic approach to training, which emphasizes not only self-defense skills but also mental resilience and discipline. What sets Phoenix MMA apart is its commitment to nurturing both the body and the mind. Through rigorous training and unwavering support, I've not only honed my skills but also discovered newfound confidence and inner strength. The journey from fear to empowerment has be
I came in from out of state with a little training under my two stripe white belt ;) Not only has my discipline leveled up, but my fitness and mental awareness have surpassed my expectations. The coaching is amazing, comprehensive, and essential. I look forward to instruction just as much as I look forward to open mat rolls. We are always working towards a series in instruction, yet can jump in anytime. Which is the genius of Coach Cory! The competition is legit as most all compete and steadily win and place in competitions, yet rolls are always respectful and welcoming. The upper belts are always willing to roll with the lowers to help everyone level up. No one ever seems “too cool” to approach. The welcoming and the camaraderie of the entire gym is in itself a great way to hang with the crew. Whether you are seasoned vet or new and curious, there is absolutely no reason for you to not reach out to Cory or any of the other coaches to c
Phoenix has been great. I've trained at other gyms in the past, and wouldn't recommend this one if I didn't feel strongly about it. What makes all gyms are the people.. primarily the coaches that teach you, secondarily the students that you practice with. At Phoenix, both are excellent. The coaches are extremely analytical and thorough in their instruction. Their knowledge is very, very deep, and they care about and focus on every individual in every class (not an easy task) and offer a particularly intelligent instruction of techniques and general theories that work in today's bjj/mma competitions. The coaches have also been able to create an extremely positive "vibe"/culture among the students. I've yet to encounter any student that isn't very respectful and helpful. Everyone helps everyone grow, and that's simply the expectation at Phoenix Overall I'm very happy training here, thoroughly impressed with the other people who teach/trai
What started out as sheer curiosity about learning self defense and Jiu jitsu, has now become an integral part of my life in all aspects of the mind, body and soul thanks to Phoenix MMA. The instructors - Cory, Eric and Kevin - have created a culture centered around community, shared knowledge, encouragement and perseverance. Martial arts are meant to challenge the mind, body, soul connection and the community at Phoenix MMA has, and always will, continue to help ground me throughout the highs and lows of those challenges. It’s hard to express the appreciation I have for the instructors and all of the other members in the Phoenix community as they have spent hours with me outside of class to help improve my game. If you’re curious about learning martial arts and want authentic instruction, genuine communal support while avoiding pushy sales tactics, Phoenix is the way to go!
