My son (7) and I (30) are 2 months into our classes at GB Mt. Juliet and are still enjoying our BJJ experience. We signed up with this gym primarily because of the child atmosphere. I wanted to introduce my son to BJJ with an instructor that understood how to communicate effectively with kids. Kevin does a great job teaching kids multi-step movements in a way that they can easily pick it up and perform what they are being taught. There is a balanced mix of technique, competition, and fun that keeps my son wanting to come back. I joined shortly after my son and was equally impressed with the adult class. Great mix of new and veteran belts that are very helpful. If you ask questions, you'll get genuine responses. If you want to take it easy for a day, your training partner will match your effort. If you want a competition effort, there are days for that as well. The overall environment is great as well. Plenty of comfortable seating for y
We moved to Nashville a few months ago and were looking for a gym to get my son (7) and myself involved in. We toured gyms around the hermitage-MJ area and this was the best one for what we were looking for. It’s hands down the best environment for kids. Coach Kevin understands how to communicate with kids in different age groups. He mixes technique with fun games that support the lessons they are teaching the students. As a 10 year elementary physical education teacher, I’m impressed with the structure of the kids program and my son loves coming to class. The adult program is also very inviting. No one is trying to kill each other. There is a good mix of training with similar belts and veteran belts so that you are getting an full experience. Very respectful environment amongst the adults. First gym I’ve been to where I find myself having conversations each time I’m in the gym, not just glaring at each other with the casual “hey”. The
Having relocated to Mount Juliet around six months ago, I was on the hunt for a welcoming jiu-jitsu gym, and I'm delighted to say that Gracie Barra Mt. Juliet has exceeded my expectations. One of the standout features of this gym is its warm and friendly atmosphere. From the moment I stepped through the door, I felt like part of the community. The instructors are not only highly skilled but also approachable and genuinely invested in their students' progress. The classes are not only informative but also incredibly enjoyable. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, there's something for everyone here. The instructors do an excellent job of structuring the sessions to cater to all skill levels, ensuring that everyone feels challenged yet supported. Moreover, the emphasis on technique and safety means that you can train consistently without constantly worrying about injuries, which is a huge plus in my book. Overall, Gracie
I've had the pleasure of training with Coach Kevin and Jordan for about 6 months now. Previously, I trained at Gracie Humaita in Austin, TX. What drew me to this gym was the location and beautiful clean facilities. What kept me is the instructors and group of people I get to train with. Some things for your consideration... (1) It is a fairly new gym, and we're still building out depth in belts for both instructors and students. (2) The gym is very kid friendly - you'll frequently find little ones running around. (3) The majority of classes are gi, although we're working on adding more no-gi classes. (4) This gym is currently only focused on jiu-jitsu (competitive & recreational). (5) For the most part, our students are well controlled and not out for blood - we're here to be good training partners!
Been training for a few months now and enjoy it so much!!! I can’t say enough about the impact the training at Gracie Barra has had on my mental and physical well being. I am having a blast and getting great cardio, flexibility, strength, and coordination in the process. The benefits have been amazing. I find myself with more energy to do things at home without tiring out. I have even started to enjoy running and eating better and taking care of myself and my heart ( which makes wifey happy ) Friendly, approachable instructors, VERY clean environment, family friendly atmosphere, fun friendly classmates, all have made learning Jiu Jitsu an enjoyable experience.
Excellent, independently owned Jiu Jitsu academy in Mount Juliet. The head coach let me train here a few weeks while my main gym was temporarily closed. Fast forward a couple years, and my main gym has permanently closed, so it was an easy choice to sign up at Ivy. It’s a huge, clean space, and the athletes training there are friendly and supportive (and tough). The Jiu Jitsu is high quality. You should be able to roll with the head coach (and other coaches) without worrying you’re going to get hurt, and that’s the way it is here. 5 stars.
