A few months ago my son started Brazilian Jiujitsu. He takes his lessons very seriously and pays close attention to what the instructors tell him. Tonight he was given the honor of moving up a class by Coach Decker due to his training commitment and for taking the class so seriously. To say I’m proud is an understatement. I often have friends reach out and ask me now I don’t teach Martial Arts where should they train..... well... I can definitely say hand on heart they need to check out Black Force MMA Academy (it’s near the back of Best Buy in Summerville) The owner and head coach is incredible. Watching him teach reminds me of my Dad/sensei as he walks onto the mat and holds the attention of all his students. He is dedicated, knowledgeable and operates a great academy. Dropped in for a week. Initially I was lost because I’ve never been here, however, someone saw my blank stare and proceeded to help me with a smile on their face. They were extremely welcoming and friendly and glad to have me come in. I was offered to train for the week while I was in Charleston without having to pay any kind of mat fee. The Instructor Dwight Decker is an incredibly talented Black Belt and incorporated me into the class seamlessly. Overall a great class, great environment and a great place to train if you are in the Charleston area. When work takes me to Charleston, this is where I will be to train.
I can’t say enough good things about Carlson Gracie Jr Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The coaches are not only incredible at Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu but they’re also amazing with kids. They teach discipline respect and confidence while keeping the classes fun and engaging. My child has grown so much since starting here not just on the mats but in everyday life too. If you’re looking for a place that feels like family and truly cares about your child’s growth this is the gym to check out!
Black Force MMA is where it's at! Dwight has created a really special MMA gym, and I'm proud that me and my family are a part of it. The gym is truly family friendly/family oriented, and all of the coaches are top notch. Specifically, it's amazing to see how passionate and patient all the coaches are with the kids (and adults, too) classes. If you've been wanting to enter the world of mixed martial arts, regardless of your knowledge/experience, I highly, HIGHLY recommend Black Force MMA!
I have a preteen daughter that has been training for 2 years at Black Force. She started out just doing 2 kids classes and quickly realized that she absolutely loved it. She now trains 5-6 days a week in Jiu Jitsu, wrestling and boxing and has full confidence in her coaches. She always feels comfortable and safe which is so important when training in such a physical and hands on sport.
BlackForce MMA is by far the best Jujitsu gym in the Lowcountry. The instructors are wonderful with children and are great influences on their lives. They are always upbeat and positive, while still reinforcing proper techniques and strict discipline. I recommend to any family or individual looking to train in martial arts, learn new skills or just wanting to work on personal fitness. We have felt very fortunate to be a part of the Black Force family.
