Before moving to this area, I trained at other gyms. I found Believe BJJ a great place to learn and train. Professor Randy is organized and detail oriented. The beginner class is good for advanced and beginner alike because the techniques are taught in a way that you can always learn something new and improve on what you think you already know. The advanced class also improves technique and mobility. I have found that everything I’ve learned from Professor Randy has been useful in sparring because of the way he incorporates the instruction and drills. I like that he teaches techniques as a series for the month. This is an efficient and helpful way to learn BJJ. The atmosphere is welcoming and family friendly.
Believe BJJ in Summerville is an incredible gym that truly feels more like a family than just a place to train. When I first started, my cardio was terrible—I could barely breathe—but it’s improved so much thanks to the consistent training and support. I learn something new every day, and the gym is always clean and welcoming. Professor Randy is extremely knowledgeable, kind, and always willing to help, no matter your level. Coming from a desk job and being away from grappling for so long had taken a toll on me, but training here has genuinely changed my life. I see real progress in my performance, but even more than that, I’m proud of the skills I’m learning and the person I’m becoming. - Zacháô
Great place to train. -the coaching is excellent -run by understanding and compassionate people -very reasonably priced, not "cheap" but very affordable. The homeschool program is phenomenal (3 mornings a week). Both Randy and Jimmy are naturals with kids (I havent personally seen the other coaches with the kids yet so cant comment). Only thing is I wish there were more no-gi days. There are two no-gi evenings, and an open mat on Sunday but it's the same time as church. Which, I guess it's a good problem to have when the only "criticism" is I wish there was more 🤣
We have loved Professor Randy and Coach Flavia’s homeschool class! Convenient times and days (10 am MWF), convenient location in a nice facility, and EXCELLENT instruction. My kiddo has been doing Jiu Jitsu for several years, and within months showed strong improvement under their direction. The small class size and the instructors’ approachable, firm, and kind teaching makes it just a great experience all the way around!
Randy is an outstanding coach! I highly recommend him to anyone in the area. He teaches excellent techniques, and I truly enjoyed every practice I attended. Randy loves the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I truly feel his passion in there with every class he teaches. The team at Believe Jiu Jitsu is fantastic. Everyone is incredibly welcoming!
Incredible instructors, family friendly, beginner friendly, competitive, all the good things!! Highly highly highly recommend trying this academy for bjj!! The professor and his wife are the kindest, most helpful, encouraging people and you won’t regret it!
