Royal StriKing Muay Thai & BJJ reviews

Rated 4.9/5 across 52 Google reviews.

Had my first class there today and it was everything I was hoping for, perfect mix of fun and pushing yourself and learning new skills and super friendly instructors and fellow gym goers. Very welcoming and friendly. Edit: I have now been a member of Royal Striking for over four years, I've been to and trained at several other MMA gyms and while many were great, I can confidently say Royal Striking is the most exceptional MMA gym I've trained at bar none. World class striking coaches with a phenomenal grappling program that only continues to expand. At Royal, each coach genuinely cares about the growth of the students here, and it is friendly for all levels, whether you're looking to just get into shape or serious about improving your skills in martial arts, Royal Striking can do it all. When I started I was 16 years old, I turn 21 in a few months and the head owner Aaron has been an amazing figure in my life, one of the most kind, down
Royal Striking provides a fun, warm and welcoming space to learn and practice Muay Thai and BJJ. Coach Aaron is very knowledgeable, skilled and passionate about combat sports which shows in his classes! All coaches and students are committed to supporting one another in improving each others’ fitness and Muay Thai or BJJ practice at royal. Coach Aaron has a calming presence which makes joining a combat gym much less scary. Classes provide a mix of technical skill and full body workout. A great place for anyone wanting to understand Muay Thai, get a good workout and feel part of a welcoming community!
There is no doubt this is one of the best muay thai and martial arts academies in Philly. The coaches, staff and students at Royal Striking are just some of the most knowledgeable, proficient and overall fun, people to be around. Coach Aaron has created something special for his team and community. I have been in martial arts for over 25 years and I believe that everyone should find a place that fits them to learn and call home. This is without question, one of those places. I highly recommend Royal Striking for brand new beginners as well as for professional competitors. Whether you want to get in great shape and explore a wonderful hobby or want to take martial arts further for competing, you will find it all with Coach Aaron. My expert opinion is, stop waiting and schedule a class today with them. You won't be disappointed.
I've started coming here around 3 years ago and I love it. I've been around a lot of martial art gyms and the environment and quality of training is the best. I'm a professional fighter but the classes here benefit anyone from novices to seasoned pros. Coach Aaron is really good at incorporating a program that benefits everyone regardless of skill level. Coach Aaron treats everyone equally and takes pride in making everyone better. If you're especially looking to get in shape while having fun then I highly recommend checking out a class. In addition there are 3 highly qualified jiu jitsu teachers who teach here weekly. Since joining my game has improved greatly. There is no macho gym culture here and I really appreciate that.
I've had such a great experience at Royal Striking. Training with Aaron has truly been life-changing for me. Not only am I losing weight, but it’s also been amazing for my mental health. What really sets the culture of the gym apart is the coaching staff led by Aaron—they are expertly knowledgeable in all things striking and incredibly generous with their time. You can tell Aaron genuinely cares about each person who walks through the door. The community is awesome—so welcoming and supportive. It’s been a real blessing in my life and a much-needed reprieve from everyday stress. I highly recommend trying a class. You won’t regret it!
I trained here from 2021 - 2025 until I had to move away for work. I joined a new gym a few months ago and it's really put into perspective how Royal is in a league above other gyms 😭 Pros: -Pricing is fair and you can cancel with only 2 months notice (very helpful if you suddenly have to move for work) -You can rent a locker so you don't have to haul your stuff back and forth! -Aaron and the other coaches and members have curated an environment that is positive and uplifting. It is very easy to make friends with everyone. -The coaches clearly put a lot of thought and planning into lessons. There's a new focus every week with new stuff to practice and learn. -There are semi-annual trips to Thailand to actually train in the homeland of Muay Thai. I never actually got to go on one, but I think it's so cool to have the opportunity to understand the cultural traditions and origin of this sport to better practice it. -Just all around really
