I started training at Deep Water a year and half ago, at 42. A friend of mine had been telling me I needed to train for 10 years and I always made excuses as to why I couldn't , mostly because I was nervous of the unknown. I also have knee issues and was hesitant for fear my knee wouldn't hold up while training. I now train 4-6 days a week with no problems. The hardest day was the day I walked through the front door to sign up. The staff is unbelievable. I instantly felt as if I'd known them for years. My first class came and I was instantly greeted by everyone in the class with a handshake and a smile. Everyone is eager to help one another with techniques and advice from the higher belts is always helpful. The coaches are always willing to stay after class and assist you with additional questions you have, as well as, taking one on one time during class to make sure you understand the techniques. Being in Law Enforcement I really like
Deep Water Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been such a huge impact in my life since leaving the Army. When I first got out I was more or less alone, with little to no physical activity, and dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Immediately upon going in for my consultation and meeting one of the coaches who had also served, I felt right at home, Within weeks of training there I had begun to pick up on the sense of comradery that I had been missing since leaving my unit. The atmosphere of the gym is one of learning, fun, and a competitive nature focused on success. The coaches are top notch and always have time to help their students with whatever questions they have whether related to a particular technique, the right mindset, or even health and nutrition questions. And finally the classes themselves are informative and allow students to be both technically and tactically proficient in matters of self defense and in tournaments. If you a
If you are looking for a martial arts school that has skillful and knowledgeable instructors, who promotes growth in all of their students, and a place that will truly make you feel like you are one of their own, this is the place. Scott, Cameron, and the rest of their amazing instructors in this academy are some of the best people I have ever met and trained with. The academy offers grappling and striking classes, and even offers kids classes. It is also conveniently located in a place that won't make your commute a headache, even during evening rush hour. I travel often, and have had the opportunity to visit and train in other jiu jitsu schools; Deep Water BJJ is by far my top school to visit and train in. Stop by or give them a call for a quick consultation, you will not regret it!
I’m a 38 year old mother of three, and I needed something to help improve my overall health and lifestyle. From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt welcome. Now, 1 year later, I have lost all the “baby weight”, acquired some pretty fantastic skills, and have gained a whole new group of friends and family. If you are thinking about giving this sport a try, I would highly recommend you start at Deep Water BJJ. The owners have created a welcoming and protective setting, all while being incredibly approachable and deeply knowledgeable about the art of Jiu Jitsu. Come on in! Check out the meticulously cleaned facilities, rad people training and stay for a great fundamentals class. We would love to meet you!
As someone who has competed in athletics, at varying levels, throughout my whole life, I was looking for an outlet. I still play in some adult sport leagues from time to time, and even did a little boxing, but I was feeling uninterested - I needed something to inspire some passion in me and give me a desire to train and improve myself. So, one day, I got in contact with an old friend who had been posting about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on facebook, and he suggested I should come in and try Deep Water. Sometimes walking into a gym full of combat-based athletes can be a little tense or even very intimidating, so I didn't know what to expect. But within seconds of being at the gym for the first time I felt welcomed, accepted and respected. After my first one-on-one session with Coach G, I quickly signed up and I have been hooked ever since. I don't even feel that I am "going to the gym" anymore. I'm going to Deep Water to have some fun with frie
I need jiu-jitsu everyday, and when I don't my day feels incomplete. I've been a member at Deep Water for 3 years now and I am an active competitor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Before coming to Deep Water I only trained 5 times a week. Since joining Deep Water my training has skyrocketed, to training longer and 7 days a week. This is a great school for competitors as well as people who just need something to do and lose weight. It truly has a family atmosphere when I walk through those doors everyday, you will not regret joining Deep Water, I can't wait to see you on the mats!! OSS
