My 5 year old has been attending the Little Ninjas jiu jitsu class with coach Gus, coach Charlie, and coach Maria 3 days a week for the last 7 months. The coaches are incredible with the kids— they are firm yet fun, patient, and so encouraging. Not to mention world class athletes! They are all true role models. The little ninjas class is a good balance of learning jiujitsu skills through demonstrations, training with partners, sparring, and games. My son loves this class and it’s had a positive impact on him in many ways! Once my daughter is old enough I hope she is interested in trying it out too. There are several girls in the class currently and it’s awesome to see how they look up to coach Maria! The best part is seeing my son so proud of himself when he earns stripes. He’s learning that hard work, focus, and respect pay off.
My 5 year old has been attending classes here for about a year now. The coaching staff Maria, Charlie and Prof. Bessa are all currently competing champions who know what they’re doing. They teach with patience, care and discipline. There aren’t long lectures. They teach a series of basic moves and let the kids work together on the mats to figure things out and there is always sparring. They play fun games in between the different class sections and the kids love it. There are always winners and losers in the games and sparring rounds—which I love. Effort and progress is acknowledged but these kids aren’t getting new belts or stripes every week. They’re on the same terms as the adults. I’ve watched my son go from asking me to quit every week to asking me when he can compete next and talking to me about arm bars and different ways to pass guard. I started practicing myself about a month ago at both Oregon City and Happy Valley. I’ve never
Our two sons have been going to BTT in Oregon city for a little over a year now, so this review is grounded in solid experience. As a father who wants his kids to get away from screens, get some great exercise and some fun safely, there just isn’t anything out there to compare to. The coaches at BTT are true professionals. They are all advanced belts with YEARS of tournament experience and success, and they pass that expertise on to my children in the most constructive and helpful way. My kids aren’t coddled here, but they are always encouraged, and moreover, they receive age appropriate challenges that make them stronger and more confident all the time. They love coming to practice. I feel I need to emphasize that. I NEVER have to make them get in the car, they are ALWAYS ready to practice! We’ve had tournament success that stunned us, and it’s clearly because the coaching they receive here is way above what other schools are teaching
Amazing jiu jitsu academy with world class coaching, staff, and support! Highly recommend if you’re tired of going to a gym full of ego lifters and meat heads! Have seen people walk through those doors and lose over a hundred pounds in little over a year not to mention life long skill and discipline they gain during the process. Also a great place for kids to develop themselves into courageous and respectable individuals. Could write for years about the benefits of jiu jitsu let alone jiu jitsu in an awesome place like this.
We have had a tremendously positive experience with BTT in the three years that we have been attending classes. I would say that Coach Gus and all of his instructors' are very child focused with their curriculum and want to see all the children develop to the best of their potential. It is a very family oriented feel and the Business Manager Nina is always super helpful and receptive to any and all questions and/or needs. I would highly recommend this Jiu Jitsu gym to all my family and friends.
My kids train with BTT. It has been amazing all around. They train hard, eat healthier and are on a great routine. It’s a positive but also very disciplined atmosphere. Which we all need. I joined BTT recently and feel amazing after every class. I train with Coach Maria and Coach Briana. They are hands down some of the best coaches and understand how to instruct at every level. I highly recommend this gym!
