(This review is long) I took a full month to reflect on my experience before sharing. If you’re experiencing any of the following, I highly recommend starting martial arts—ideally here at Impact, specifically the Hillsboro location: Anxiety, depression, insomnia, self-image issues, or lack of confidence If you're a woman or petite woman who feels physically vulnerable If you’ve been targeted in public, are looking for friendships, relationships outside of bars, or a supportive community If you're introverted, need a workout, or want a challenge. I joined a month ago, and just a few days in, an instructor paired me (a 33-year-old) with an 11-year-old girl who’s been training for two years. She gave me a run for my money! That moment showed me how valuable jiu-jitsu (JJ) is, especially for women. I’m hooked and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I first noticed this gym while going to Planet Fitness next door. At the time, I was in a de
Because of my line of work I've move a lot and over the years Ive had opportunities to train at many high level gyms all over California, Nevada, and Thailand but when I walked into Impact Hillsboro I could imediatly tell that ths was a great gym from the display of medals on the wall and the level of techniques from the instructor Richard and from his students is fantastic. Also the sense of community that Rich gives to the gym is what makes it a special place people from all walks of life joined together under the banner of jiu jitsu is an awesome thing to be apart of. the people who train here are dedicated to the art and are always trying to improve and compete and because of that mentality my game has improved dramaticly! If your a begginer or a seasoned vet I highly recommend this gym.Its a rare little gem of jiu jitsu right in the heart of downtown hillboro.I expect in years to come this gym will be a power house of jiu jitsu in t
Impact Jiu Jitsu Hillsboro has been a great gym to train at. After moving from another location, we decided to give this gym a try, and I’m really glad we did. We have been training here for a few months, and we couldn’t be happier with the youth coaches and the curriculum they teach. There are always enough coaches on the mats during practice to ensure every student gets quality instruction and support when they’re struggling. My son’s overall game has improved drastically since starting here. The adult program is pretty rad too, they have multiple class times per day, GI and No Gi as well as kickboxing! One thing that really stands out is the level of care they show for their students—there has been a coach present at every tournament my son has competed in. If you’re looking for a great place to train, look no further.
I had been looking to get my daughter enrolled in Jiu Jitsu for some time. As it happened that time was right after they moved into the new location. So I was never at the previous spot but the new one is great. Super convenient as we have swimming at the aquatic center next door and I work out there. It’s also next to Planet Fitness. The instructors are amazing. My daughter struggles to focus and listen due to some ADHD she has inherited from me and some family issues with her mother and the instructor have been great in working with her participating and she is doing remarkably better. It is great watching the discipline and teamwork Dora has learned here get carried over into all her other activities. After a just a few weeks at Impact Jiu Jitsu Hillsboro Dora’s dance instructors started telling me stories about how she was supporting other dancers that were nervous and I watched her cheering on fellow swim students like she learned
If you are looking for a place to learn the art of Jiu Jitsu or simply get in shape I highly recommend Impact Jiu Jitsu (Hillsboro). The facility is spacious and clean. The students are friendly. I am new and it already feels like family. Impact Jiu Jitsu (Hillsboro) may have all this going for it but what is more important than that is the instructor. Richard is a highly decorated Black Belt. He has the ability to give clear instruction that a novice to Black Belt can understand and benefit. He is a great guy and I’m sure that once you meet him you will agree.
Best decision someone can make! The coaches and owner (who also coaches) are incredibly attentive, supportive, knowledgeable, patient, and kind. You'll notice that many of the members consist of families. This is because nothing but good comes from here. There are multiple classes available, such as kickboxing, jiu jitsu (gi and no gi), grappling, women-only, etc. and kids' classes. They also have a summer camp program, which is super fun! The kids loved it, and it's so good for them! I recommend them to everybody who'll listen to me for more than 5 seconds.
