I've been training with Professor Pat at BTT Happy Valley for years and have followed him here to Damascus. I can honestly say he has been one of the most influential people in my Jiu-Jitsu journey. I have been here since day one and both Professor Patrick and his wife Amy are extremely hard working. They have an amazing kids program which teach children and young adults about patience, perseverance and a positive outlook/attitude and how they can handle and express their emotions in a healthy way. I can say that I’ve learned invaluable skills not just about jiujitsu but of myself as well. I’ve had a wonderful opportunity to train and meet people from all walks of life and can confidently say I have found my peace and solitude in jiujitsu and the new people I can count on and call a family. I've been with BTT Damascus since the day they first opened and was with Prof. Pat before that at another gym where I trained with multiple instructors. I would highly recommend BTT Damascus it is a very welcoming and comfortable gym the atmosphere makes you feel like you're walking into a friend's house not a gym where you're learning jiu jitsu. I would highly recommend BTT Damascus to any one of all ages.
I’ve been training under Coach Pat for 2 years and I’ve learned so much about the principles and concepts of jiu jitsu, that my game has greatly improved. I can’t recommend attending his classes enough. Being a younger man in his Thirties, I was most surprised by level of camaraderie, and the amazing friendships that I’ve made.

Beginners are welcome. Use the trial class to watch a fundamentals or all-levels session and meet the coach before signing up. No experience or gear needed for your first class at most Portland gyms.
