10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Portland reviews

Rated 5.0/5 across 117 Google reviews.

I’ve been living in Portland for 20 years and if we ever move this would be the thing we would miss the most. My kids have grown in so many ways by being a part of this gym and the life lessons and skills they learn on and off the mat here will forever be a part of them. The kids program is hands down the best in the city. We have been a part of two other gyms before and there is no comparison to community, care and students here at 10th planet. Coach Morgan and his team of coaches run a world class kids program that is not only technical but fun. The mix of drills, skills training and sparring with a mix of games in between keeps the kids engaged and happy. The community of parents and kids is solid gold. The caliber of kids that come here bring a sense of skill, passion, and it’s like a small family. The engagement from the adults who train here as well as the owners and coaches creates such a family atmosphere. The head coach of the
An incredible experience! 10P has an extremely high level of jiu jitsu coaching while also providing a friendly and welcoming environment for beginners. I started Jiu Jitsu in my 40's, so I was a little nervous about stepping in here. From day 1, I was mentored by instructors and staff who were committed to helping me develop as an athlete. My fellow classmates modeled the ethos of becoming better together through training. Being part of the community at 10p Portland has been one of the most positive experiences of my life. If you are thinking about training here, just do it. Highly recommended.
If you’re in Portland looking to learn jiu jitsu for the first time, you’re not going to find a better place than this gym. I came in with 0 experience having only dropped into a couple gyms around for trial runs, and felt more comfortable at 10th planet than anywhere else. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, no one is there with anything to prove or any ego, everyone is there with the desire to improve themselves and doing it for the love of the game. When you start you’ll most likely decide to stick to the fundamentals class, which is great since as a beginner you’ll only be rolling with other beginners who are starting from scratch like you. As you build your confidence you can start going to open mat after a while, where you can roll with more experienced grapplers and learn even more. Coaches never make you feel like you’re bothering them or wasting their time, and in fact will probably check in on you periodically and wil
I highly recommend 10th Planet Portland to anyone interested in jiu jitsu. Whether you are interested in jiu jitsu for fitness, self defense, or sport, this gym has something to offer you. A well thought out curriculum allows students to advance at their own pace. All of the instructors make a point to connect with each and every student on a personal level. A clear attention to detail can be seen throughout the gym whether it be the information taught in class or how clean the gym is kept. Most importantly, and unsurprisingly, the gym has a supportive community that brings out the best in everyone.
If you are looking for a great community to be a part of while also receiving top class Jiu Jitsu training, this is the gym for you! The coaches are knowledgeable and welcoming, the facility is cleaner than any other gym I’ve been to, and they offer a wide variety of class times so it is almost certain to fit into your schedule. Wether you are just starting out or already on your journey, wether you’re a hobbyist or competitor, please do yourself a favor and contact 10th Planet Portland about becoming a member.
10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu is one of the best Martial Arts gyms that I have ever trained at. The coaching is top notch, the facilities are well-maintained and the mats are sanitized twice a day. With classes taught throughout the day it makes it easy to train no matter what kind of work/life schedule you have outside of the gym. The community of people is very welcoming and if I could give this place a 10/5 rating I would.
