I have been training here for a year together with my children. We have one of us in each level of classes (4-8 year old group, 8-12 and adult class). We all love training here and look forward to class. It has been great for me as well as for my kids. Sensei is tough and caring at the same time.which helps my kids learn but also know that he cares about them and wants them to grow. This has been great for them physically as well as mentally. I highly recommend for adults and children of all ages. We are proud to be part of the Samurai Judo family!
I would give this school more then 5 stars if possible. When I first started here I didn’t know any students and I was worried.The instructors really helped ease my worries and made me feel welcome. Every time you receive a stripe or belt the whole samurai team makes you feel so good about it! Learning from an amazing instructor like Zumo is deffinetly worth it. You will make friends and learn so many good techniques. Along the way you could also lose weight because of the positive mat chats at the end of classes. The sweat and hard work will pay off when you realize how far you’ve come and Samurai is the best place to learn motivation and discipline.
After searching for many spots i can say this one feels like home. Everyone is so friendly and treats you like family. The sensi and his team treat your child as their own which is rare to find. He truly is the best! He helps the kids learn self-confidence and respect, as well as to have faith in themselves. He brung out the confidence in my son that i never knew he had. And i give him a huge thank you for this! You're not missing out just by watching one class you can see the love he has for these kids.
I attended the adult judo class today and i loved it. Learned a few things, did great excercise and had fun! The class was well paced with a good balance of awsome judo oriented games, challenging excercizes, instruction, uchikomi and randori. Really cant think of anything that could be done better! The environment is layed back friendly and conducive to learning. Sensei Zumo is knowledgeable and has passion for teaching and the sport of judo. And to top it all he has a judo award from Russia that is displayed in the dojo! 😉
As a 3rd Degree Black Belt, 2x Bronze Medalist World Judo Championships (Masters) and former training partner of Sensei (Zumo), I give this Dojo my highest recommendation. Also, having attended classes and observed Sensei teaching I must say the instruction is First class and cutting edge. Parents who send there children to learn/train under Sensei Zumo are very Lucky. I was very impressed with the level of instruction!
I have know Zumo for many years. He is not only a great friend but someone who has a deep passion for Judo. Judo is not only a sport, it is a way of life. Sensi Zumo practices what he teaches. He is humble and honest. He loves his family and is always talking to me when we speak about them and God. Although I have a busy life scheduled and don’t see him as much I consider him a honorable person whom I would trust my kid to learn the art of Judo.
