Great place to bring your kid! I have been bringing my son for a few months and he loves it. Great environment with a great staff and great instructors. I have one gripe (sometimes) during the classes though when I watch as a parent and as a guy that coached youth sports for 15+ years I hate to watch a kid not participate in a drill or activity cause time ran out. For example one class the last 10 minutes of a 30 minute class 10 kids were lined up again the wall watching 2 kids participate in a drill ran by 2 instructors, 10 minutes went by and probably 6 kids participated and when it got to the 30 minutes mark the class ended and 4 kids didn’t participate… I feel like if you have 2 instructors why can’t 2 sets of 2 kids participate at the same time so more kids involved instead of watching and Im sitting there watching my son play footsies with another kid for a third of the class. Anyway still a great place and class overall to bring
I cannot be happier with Rolles Gracie. My 12 year old son has not really taken to team sports. BJJ seems to give him enough interaction to keep social, but the success / failure at the end of the day is all him. It is showing him that he must develop a drive in order to succeed. There is constant instruction or practice happening during class, which helps to keep him focused. The teachers are great. They demonstrate everything well and have constant repetition so that there is no confusion. They interact with the kids to ensure they understand and implement the move with the correct form. While the teachers are correcting, they also praise the kids and let them know when they do something well. I also love that they reward dedicated students by having them lead the rest of the class in warm ups and to assist in the demonstrations. I feel like they structure the class to continually build confidence along with the physical capabilities.
Welcoming, clean, supportive atmosphere. After 1 month of training at Rolles Gracie Academy, I have noticed a knowledgeable, helpful, and welcoming staff. The professors and coaches are clear, open communicators, and show concern for your individualized learning. This is my first time trying a martial art. Their focus on the fundamentals have made me feel safe and more confident as I progress. I have had a great experience so far and intend to continue my training at Rolles Gracie Academy.
I recently joined Rolles Gracie Academy after taking 4 years off of training. The community at this academy is amazing. I felt very welcome by the professors and students starting on day one. Everybody here is willing to help out and provide feedback when you have questions. There is a great mix of different skill levels providing ample opportunities to work on the skills taught in class when rolling. I would highly recommend the academy to those who have trained before or anyone interested in trying out bjj for the first time.
No better place to bring your kids. It takes some time for my boy (4 yrs old) to break out of his shell with new faces but after one class he was rocking and rolling. All the coaches and professors are extremely professional and impressively balance teaching the kids, motivating them and instilling discipline. Although they are all human, you can never tell when any of the staff has had a bad day. True professionals. Kudos to a great gym and community you have built.
This place is awesome!!! Day in and day out it feels good to know I’m headed to train with my most genuine and professional people over at Rolles Gracie Old Bridge. When deciding to try this place out you might not know if it’s for you but before you know it you’ll be training upwards of 5 days a week. From being a coach myself I can really say I appreciate the method of teaching technique as well as the camaraderie between professors, coaches, and students. I would recommend this place to anyone in a heartbeat!
