Enrolling my son in Basche’s Martial Arts has truly been life-changing for our family. Before starting here, my son struggled with respect, self-esteem, and boundaries. Since joining, we’ve seen such a positive transformation he has grown in confidence, discipline, and self-control. The program not only teaches martial arts, but also important life skills like respect and accountability. Sensei is an incredible role model, and every instructor carries themselves with discipline and integrity, setting such a strong example for the kids. I can honestly say this place has helped my son discover himself, build character, and find confidence. It has also brought peace and strength into our family. We are so grateful to be part of the Basche’s community and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for more than just martial arts it’s a place where kids grow inside and out.
I cannot say enough good things about Basche’s Martial Arts! My kids came to Basche’s about six months ago after having to completely start their lives over in a different state, and we have found such amazing community in this place. My daughter who struggles with anxiety told our doctor that “martial arts helps my anxiety a lot.” I have seen my kids grow in physical and mental strength, as well as in confidence and self discipline. Sensei is strict with the kids, which they need to learn discipline, but he also has a kind and generous heart. Miss Mary is a fantastic instructor and has been a wonderful support. Mr. David & Miss Katy do a phenomenal job teaching as well. I like the diversity of instructors that my kids have on a weekly basis. Finally, Miss Amber at the front desk is always kind and willing to help in any way she can. Needless to say, we love Basche’s!
Update : Jake is now 10 years old and a Blackbelt. 🥋 Sensei Basche is as legit as ever!! I’ve met other “karate” instructors in town and they are a joke to say the least. I wouldn’t send my son to any other school ever!!! I genuinely appreciate the time and effort you take to help the students!!!! 🙏 My son started karate over the summer. He loves going to class. He is 4 yrs old and it was a great decision to enroll him. Sensei and Mary are great instructors. My son has recently starting sparring with other students and it is his favorite part of class. The culture is serious and professional even for the little kids. I appreciate that in todays social climate that a place like this exists in Fort Wayne. I bet even Joe Rogan would be impressed with this place!
I'd highly recommend Basche's Martial Arts for anyone looking to seriously increase their self discipline, self confidence, strength, endurance, self worth, and defense skills. This is an outstanding school of martial arts! Our son has been attending for almost 4 years at about 2-3 classes per week. He'll be earning his black belt within the month and he has certainly proved that he is capable of using his skills only when the situation calls for it, but when that time comes, boy is he ready to kick butt! The school emphasizes trying to avoid conflict, self-defense if the situation calls for it, but also making sure you can neutralize any relentless attacker to the point they won't be coming back for more. At times, this can be intense, but Sensei Steve Basche puts it all in perspective, helping the students visualize the situations they may come across and what's at stake. You can tell he really cares about the students' safety with hi
My daughter was interested in starting martial arts training. We decided to try a self defense class together. Our experience at Basche's Saturday morning Ladies Self-Defense class was outstanding. The instructor and assistants were skilled, knowledgeable, kind and compassionate. They talked us through every move, explaining the logic to the tactic. We were invited to some free regular karate classes and we're sold! All the staff have been patient and kind. Our classmates are very supportive.
Basche's is a very uplifting place to be. I especially appreciate they have everyone cheer each other on, there's no room for negativity or bullying. I know my kids are safe going here. Sensei and Mary are both extremely skilled and knowledgeable. All the instructors and instructors in training are some of the most wonderful teens/young adults I've ever met. I'm greatful for the positive role models my children have by training here.
