Gracie was my coach back in the late 1990's. Within two years multiple kids and adults were competing at the national level and winning. Six months ago I started judo again with Coach Gracie and it has been fabulous. The dojo has a family feel and has been really welcoming with me coming back. The coaches are great at providing opportunities for all levels and ages to learn. I'm so glad I came back to judo with Gracie. I highly recommend Gracie Judo Club for all levels from little 4 year olds to adults.
My son has been practicing judo for five years with the Gracie Judo team. All of the instructors are very professional and courtious. I really appreciate how all the instructors want the kids to be successful not only in judo but in life. The club has practice scheduled four days a week for a "very" decent price. You will not find another club around that dedicates the time and effort into such a wonderful self defense sport for the price. My son loves the sport and it keeps him active and off the phone /computer.
Both my boys did Judo for years here, it is a wonderful club. A couple other reviews I read stated that the instructors were disrespectful or too tough. Well guess what, Judo is a combat sport, not pattycake. Gracie is the real deal, they are not there to babysit your kids, they are there to make them tough and great at judo. Yes, Judo is fun and can be recreational. But, being a former olympian, Grace, the owner of this club, wants to train your kids to be the best of the best, not only in Judo, but in life.
This is the best dojo I have ever been part of in the last 35 years of doing Judo. All of the staff are genuinely concerned with teaching proper technique that can be carried into normal life situations. Judo is an art that focuses on defensive maneuvers in sometimes scary situations and all of the Senseis have an unwavering dedication to teaching students the best way to utilize this art. Sensei Grace Jividen makes sure every ounce of energy put into this club is focused on helping people become more confident and better members of society through grit, determination, humility, and sense of family. You will not be sorry for stopping by and seeing what Gracie has to offer. All age groups and genders encouraged and welcome!
The adult class is full of fun people who work very hard yet don’t take themselves too seriously. If you always wanted to try judo and didn’t get around to it until adulthood, this is the place I’d recommend. Judo is hard. Don’t make it harder on yourself, come to gracie judo. (Also would highly recommend for anyone who does BJJ and wants to cross train, they know how to train you)
Ive been attending Gracie Judo for about 2 months now. And I can honestly say it has been an outstanding experience. Both the sensies, other lower belts, and common mood is all based around respect and the betterment of yourself. For anyone on the edge of wanting to try, I would highly recommend starting here. They also give you a 2 week period to try it out without putting any money down. The people in this community are more than welcoming to all skill levels and will absolutely work with you day in day out to impove yourself.
