Steez Jiu Jitsu Club is truly a gem nestled in the outskirts of Tustin's Old Town district. Although this is the first and only gym I've trained at, I have met many martial arts teachers/instructors/coaches in my lifetime. Just like Jiu Jitsu is an art form, coaching/teaching Jiu Jitsu is also an art form in and of itself. Sitting through just a single class with Professor Jimmie, it is clear that he is a true black belt in both art forms. His passion for each student's individual growth along their Jiu Jitsu journey is unrivaled. I've literally seen him get goosebumps when a student successfully applies a technique they've been working on. This type of investment that Professor Jimmie has for each and every one of his students is extremely rare. Steez is an excellent place for literally anyone, of any age and skill level, to train. Professor Jimmie has built an incredible sense of community and family at Steez. Because of this, every o
My son (age 8) and I joined Steez Jiu Jitsu Club in November 2022. We felt welcomed from the start and were immediately blown away by the culture and environment Coach Jimmie created for both the kids and adult programs. My son has had the opportunity to train in the Fundamentals, Advanced and Competition classes. My daughter (age 4) has also started training at Steez in their Fundamentals class for almost one year. Coach Jimmie is excellent with kids and has a number of junior coaches that all work very well with the kids program. The curriculum across all levels is thoughtfully planned which allows all members to follow the progression, techniques and movements being taught from week to week. It’s been amazing to see my kids’ progress not only from a training and self-defense standpoint but also in their self-confidence on and off the mats since they’ve started. I would highly recommend Steez Jiu Jitsu Club to anyone looking to start
Steez Jiu-Jitsu club has a truly welcoming vibe. Coach Jimmie runs classes that build from fundamentals to the latest techniques in a systematic, step-by-step way—easy to understand and applicable. The teammates are friendly and welcome newcomers which helped me to get settled. My kids started jiu-jitsu here, a couple of months ago, and whenever I say it’s Jiu-Jitsu day they shout, “Yay!” Coach Jimmie definitely knows how to guide and handle kids—they follow his instructions, train, and keep improving. Most importantly, they enjoy every moment on the mats. Another huge plus is that you can also learn Judo from legitimate high level instructors.
LOVE this place!! We transitioned from UFC Gym about 6 months ago and we were welcomed with open arms as if we were family from Day 1. Both a fantastic Adults and Kids program, our experience is mostly with the kid program. Such a great group of kids, parents and very, very high level instruction. One of the aspects we really love about the instruction is that Coach Jimmie, a bjj black belt also has a wrestling coach and an Olympic judo coach as part of the bjj program. Combine this with kids no gi classes and now you not only have one of the best bjj programs in Orange County but you also have a fantastic self defense program. The raise in level of confidence and skills in my kids has been more than I could ever hoped for. We have 3 kids, all with different levels of skill set and each kid has several kids in their range to work with and be challenged with. A really good testament to the culture of Steez is how long they keep kids in t
Coach Jimmie is absolutely exceptional. He is patient and is an expert in providing a safe and robust foundation in his classes. For someone who is nearly fifty years old, Coach has established fundamental programs for me that cover the basics in just five weeks in a fun and engaging environment. Steez provides a truly family-friendly atmosphere where both parents and kids can flourish together. They offer a variety of activities, including judo, yoga, boot camp, and multiple Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) classes, available in both gi and no-gi styles throughout the week, catering to all skill levels. What truly sets Steez apart from other gyms is its commitment to price transparency. When I was exploring options, Steez was the only gym that openly displayed its pricing—no hidden fees or contracts here. You can even try a class for free. Believe me, once you start, you’ll be hooked. I transitioned from training twice a week to three times a
In dentistry we talk a lot about having a dental home. Steez is the equivalent Jiu Jitsu home. Coach Jimmie makes a tremendous job at creating a home environment that is welcoming to family and the community. The Jiu Jitsu taught here is intricate, detailed oriented and well thought out like a college curriculum. Jimmie starts you on a strong base of fundamentals and builds your game up from there. It isn’t my first academy but I’ve learned so much in my last two months that I’m thrilled at my own personal growth. The gym has it all and Jimmie welcomes you to take full use of his facility as if you’ve always been family. My daughter is his student too and he’s magically started to open her up and for that I’m most grateful. I could go on but it’s best if people find out for themselves.
