My son has been attending jiu jitsu classes at Stoa Jiu Jitsu for nearly a month now. We took our time to look into many different martial arts classes in the area and this one stood out for a number of reasons. We really appreciate that they offer a smaller homeschool mixed age/level youth class at an earlier time that feels more like a semi-private class. The facility is kept very clean and has plenty of mat space and seating for parents to watch. Since the very first day, we were so impressed with how disciplined, kind, inclusive, friendly and team-oriented the students were. These qualities, undoubtedly fostered by good parenting and coaching alike are a positive reflection of the kind of environment one would want their children to be exposed to and surrounded by. In this short time, my son has trained with Coach Dexter, Professor Laura and Professor Nisar and we could not be more excited, pleased and grateful for their amazing lea
I enrolled my 5 year old son here at STOA to learn jiu jitsu. Within 7 months, he's learned quite a bit. He quickly learned to be resilient, disciplined, how to be respectful not just to his coaches and peers. He has learned that hard work pays off and most importantly, he's built friends within the jiu jitsu mats. Coach Dexter has been a great teacher! Clean mats for everyone to train. STOA is a safe place to train jiu jitsu. I highly recommend this jiu jitsu gym and community to anyone who wants to train jiu jitsu!
World class professors, hands down. The instruction here is exceptional, and you can tell the coaches are deeply invested in helping students improve. The knowledge and technique they bring to every class is top-tier. The 6AM gi class has a dedicated core group that shows up consistently. The training partners are solid, and the culture and camaraderie make it worth waking up early for. Overall, this gym has everything you want: great coaches, committed students, and an excellent training environment. I highly recommend this gym, but here's some feedback to consider: The scheduling could better serve people with traditional 9-5 jobs. This isn't unique to this gym—most BJJ gyms seem to follow the same structure—but there's the 10AM class that's impossible for working professionals, and the 6PM class is tough to make after fighting traffic from work. The 6AM time slot works perfectly for the 9-5 crowd, but gi is only offered two days a we
Our daughter has been training at Stoa jiu jitsu and the experience has been incredible. She is learning so much—not just about jiu jitsu, but also discipline, confidence, and perseverance. Coach Dexter and Professors Laura and Nissar are absolutely amazing. They are patient, knowledgeable, and truly care about helping each child grow both on and off the mats. They create an environment where kids feel supported while also being challenged to improve. This is also a great place for kids who want to grow as athletes. The coaches support students who want to compete and help them learn how to prepare for tournaments and compete with confidence. Our daughter has had the opportunity to attend competitions and it has been such a great learning experience for her. If you are looking for a place where your child can build confidence, become well-rounded, develop athletic skills, and be part of a positive community, this is definitely the place
As a parent, I can’t recommend Stoa Jiu Jitsu enough. The professors and coaches provide truly world-class instruction while keeping a humble, welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. The kids program is phenomenal and has helped my child grow in confidence, discipline, and skill. It’s rare to find this level of training combined with such a supportive environment. Plus, the location in a plaza with restaurants and shopping makes it incredibly convenient for families.
If you’re looking for a place to call home for jiu jitsu journey, look no further than Stoa. Great instruction, clean mats, but most importantly a large supportive community. A majority of us have under 5 years experience, so it’s a great place for beginners. Myself, my wife, and my son train here, and it’s become a kind of 2nd home! Both 6AM and 6:30PM adult classes are well attended and valuable.
