If you are looking for top notch instruction combined with a great family oriented environment, this is the place. Have trained around Sacramento at different gyms and there is nothing like Maxwell Jiu Jitsu. Kids program is second to none. If you or your kids want to just learn jiu jitsu and have fun, this is the place. If you just want a gym with a good overall vibe with people who aren't going to try and hurt you, this is the place. If you want a gym where upper belts are always helping you learn and grow, this is the place. However, If you or your kids want to work toward competition, the brand of Jiu Jitsu they teach here is highly technical and highly effective at all levels of competition. Come see for yourself.
Maxwell BJJ is a great place to train for a beginner like myself. They have a phenomenal instructor and the best training partners around. If anyone is looking for an academy where they will be treated like family, look no further. Everyone is welcome and everyone gets treated with the utmost respect. Your training partners will encourage you for the better and are always there to assist whenever you want to pick their brain. Professor Davin is very passionate and detailed with his instructions, and explains each position clearly which allows for better drills and improving your technique. This seems to be true for beginners or advanced practitioners alike. The academy itself is very clean and spacious allowing for some great rolls. There’s also ample parking spaces available. If you’re looking to get into jiu jitsu you won’t find a better academy.
I recently moved backed to Sacramento after training and competing in Jiu Jitsu in San Diego for the past 3 years. I was surrounded by the best teachers/world champions around so when I came back to Sacramento I was hesitant on which school to choose. I tried one in folsom, one in Natomas and two others in Sacramento, but the level of instruction was not what I was looking for. I finally came into Maxwell BJJ and I could tell after the first class that this is where I need to be to keep improving. Professor Davin Maxwells attention to details is what stood out the most for me. I was having trouble with a variation of a move called the Berimbolo and he took the time during and after class to make sure I thoroughly understood it. I also really appreciate the schools vibe. Everyone is really cool with no ego. I'm very happy to have found this school and highly recommend.
Started training here every week about a year ago and it’s been the best experience to train with an amazing group of elite individuals. Concepts are explained extremely well for people just starting out as well as people that have been training their whole life. Training here has made Team Maxwell my family and I recommend everyone to at least come try it out and become a better version of yourself!
