Exceptional Jiu-Jitsu Gym with a Strong Sense of Community I’ve been training at Capitol Jiu Jitsu for a year and a half now, and I couldn’t be more grateful. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by both the coaches and the members. The atmosphere is incredibly positive, with a perfect balance of friendly camaraderie and serious dedication to improving at Jiu-Jitsu. The instructors are top-notch — not only are they highly skilled, but they also take the time to explain techniques in detail, ensuring that students of all levels can understand and apply them effectively with a written out curriculum. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced practitioner, they offer personalized guidance that helps you grow. The attention to detail during each class, along with the focus on fundamentals, makes every lesson invaluable. Capitol Jiu Jitsu truly feels like a family where everyone encourages each other to be their best. The gym is th
I was in town for a few weeks and dropped in to train at Capitol Jiu Jitsu — I couldn’t have picked a better place! From the moment I walked in, the members were incredibly welcoming, and the owners were fantastic. The coaches are knowledgeable, supportive, and do a great job balancing technical instruction with hard training. The class schedule was convenient and offered plenty of options to get on the mats. It’s a tough room with a lot of high-level experience, but what really stood out to me was the culture — everyone is willing to teach, help, and push each other to improve. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced grappler, this gym has something to offer. I’d highly recommend Capitol Jiu Jitsu to anyone in the Sacramento area or just passing through like I was. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town!
I dropped in for a class as a traveling visitor. Capitol Jiu Jitsu is fantastic. Great instructor in Coach Gibran who made sure to give individual attention to all of his students, including me. He even stayed after class to work with students that wanted to train more. All of the students were friendly and welcoming of all levels. Friendly rolls from everyone who matched my intensity and pace. And the gym space from the mats to the locker room is very well designed. I would recommend Capitol to anyone whether they're a day 1 white belt or a black belt.
Joined this gym back in May with very scant martial arts experience. I was drawn to the beginning Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai classes for self defense and a good workout. I do those classes and the Mat Strong (weightlifting). The class times work great with my night shift schedule. This is a great gym for beginners with/without experience in martial arts. Good for adults, teens, families, women and men. Everyone has a great attitude to helping each other improve. The facility is nice with changing rooms, loaner gear, showers, and lounge areas. I genuinely look forward to going to the gym now and I’ve already seen great skill improvements in just 3 months attending classes 3-5x/week. I’ve already recommended the gym to several local friends.
I was traveling for work and dropped into a class Tuesday night. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facilities and approachability of the owners and coaches. Class was taught by Coach Lyzz, an accomplished competitor, who was energetic and vastly knowledgeable about jiu jitsu. She was very engaged with the class and answered all questions. Everyone training that night was welcoming and friendly, and I will definitely be back any time I'm visiting Sacramento.
UPDATE: Back in sacramento this week for work and I had a wonderful time dropping in again at Capitol. I got to attend the morning gi class, which was a good size and was full of upper belts. As I've experienced before, the instruction was clear, the technique was sharp, the rolls were hard, and the people were friendly. I was offered a loaner gi, since I was traveling. And I took advantage of the weight room to get in some reps before I headed back to work. This place is top shelf. I'll be back! Had a wonderful drop in this morning at Capitol Jiu Jitsu in Sacramento. One of the nicest gyms I’ve ever seen, with brick walls, wood paneling, and even stain glass windows. This gym is fully equipped with showers, changing rooms, sauna, and fully setup weight room. Most importantly, it’s just a great place to train. Nice folks, great teaching, sharp technique, and awesome rolls. I couldn’t have had a better start to my day. Everyone treated m
