The space is GORGEOUS. Good seating to watch classes, nice springy mats, lockers for your gear, spotless changing rooms and restrooms, and an interior design that is classy and purposeful - the owners put real heart and investment into make this gym look as good as it does. I went to one of the first classes at this location and the only people there were me and the instructor, Garrett. Instead of canceling the class, Garrett worked with me 1:1 the whole time! He's a fantastic teacher and I felt like I won a lottery getting a solo class in with him. However, what makes CJJ special is its community. I train at the 34th street location and the people who train at this gym are so kind and friendly. The higher belts work together to promote a positive, safe, non-aggro atmosphere - it's super family-friendly and welcoming to hobbyists. Try on a loaner gi and jump into a class, you won't regret it!
Since joining capital Jiujitsu, my life has changed exponentially. I cannot express the benefits of joining Capital not only physically, but mentally and socially. I had wanted to try Jiujitsu for close to 5 years before fully pulling the trigger and once I did, I knew I made the right decision. First classes can be intimidating, but with coaches and students instantly making me feel welcome and safe, I knew I was in good hands. Two years in and I can safely say that there is no end in sight. Capital Jiujitsu breeds a positive and encouraging environment that makes all feel welcome, no matter what level you are at. If you are in the Carmichael area and are interested in Jujitsu, stop by. You will not regret it.
An unassuming view from the outside hides a beautifully designed interior space. The place is clean and aesthetic. High quality mats make jiujitsu practice as comfortable as it gets being strangled by your friends(or soon to be friends). When you’re not rolling, there is a comfortable lounge area in the back. A couple private changing stalls make getting in and out of your training gear easy. Plenty of lockers are available to store your personal items securely while you train. The comfortable seating area by the mats doesn’t hurt either. Come through and practice some jiujitsu with a great group of people if you get the chance.
My 8 year old son has been taking lessons at the Midtown location for the last year with Capitol Jiu Jitsu. The Carmichael location is just as spectacular as the Midtown location. Clean lockers/bathroom, fun space with spring boards, plenty of parking, and best of all - the greatest coaches and mentors for both kids and adults. If you’re thinking about getting your kid into Jiu Jitsu, CJJ is place to bring them. My son has grown in confidence, attention span, and camaraderie. Huge shout out to Garrett and Jenna, who have clearly put so much effort and thought into this new location.
I highly recommend Capitol Jiu jitsu. I have been attending classes for a little over 3 years at the Midtown location and now I get to get extra days of training a little closer to home. This school has really help change my perspective of aging into my 40's. I just want to say it is never too late to try something new and the instructors at Capitol make the uncomfortable... Comfortable. I have made many good friends which is hard to do at 46 and set in my ways. Take a chance and sign up for a class and explore the new possibilities you will not regret it.
Great space that is clean and well organized. The space includes nice lockers, changing rooms, and restrooms. The most impressive feature is the training mat that is supported by springs that creates softer and bouncer surface to train on. The instructors are knowledgeable and friendly. A great gym for both hard-core and amateur competitors.
