I’ve been training at SCHL for about 7 months now and I have had nothing but good experiences from the high quality instruction, helpful staff, and accommodating business owner. The community here is very positive and friendly. All my training partners are humble and are primarily concerned with improving their own skills while also bringing the skill levels of other training partners as well. There isn’t anyone with a ego trying to beat up others to prove they are the best. I primarily take the adult jiu jitsu classes here but I also regularly attend the judo class and sometimes will attend the kickboxing class. Jiu Jitsu classes are broken up into 3 skill levels: basics, fundamentals, and advanced. Basics is for the complete beginner and is mostly made up of learning defense, pinning an opponent to gain control, and some basic submissions. There isn’t any sparring in the basics class. Fundamentals assumes you have some knowledge of ji
This academy is one of the best places to learn the martial art of Jiu-Jitsu. I have been training Jiu-Jitsu for 8 years now and the past 3 years have been here. It is a family friendly environment that caters to all skill levels of kids and adults. The academy is big and clean. Two separate mat spaces to run simultaneous classes. The coaches are very adept and knowledgeable. They keep the kids fully engaged and provide a fun and safe place for them. The academy is owned by a man of high character. He has been learning Jiu-Jitsu for 15 years now and is always looking for more knowledge to teach the students. He has brought in World Champions for seminar because we are all students in Jiu-Jitsu and his thirst to learn from them is insatiable. He is a certified strength and conditioning coach and personal trainer to many high level and professional athletes. He teaches technique that is fit for all levels and his attention to detail is ou
I was visiting family and wanted to drop-in for a class somewhere nearby... this was the only local jiu jitsu school to answer my phone call and I'm glad they picked up! Class was awesome, top-notch instruction, and the mats were amazing quality. I got to see the last 30 Minutes of their youth class where they also had very good instruction and a decent instructor-student ratio. I've been training jiu jitsu in Temecula for 6 years now and have 'been around the block a few times.' I know good gyms and bad gyms (from experience.) This is a Great gym! I highly recommend this gym if you're looking for a good school with authentic jiu jitsu and character. Next time I'm in the area I'll drop in for another class, but I'll bring my family with me
I was looking for a new gym in the area when I stumbled upon here. I quickly arranged for a trial class and never looked back since. I already had some experience in bjj but I feel like coach Herbert, Ben, and Jason have all really upped my game. The instruction is clear, concise, and practical. Everyone else at the gym has been super welcoming and great training partners. Parking is super easy to get, there is a parking lot and plenty of street parking. They have clean washrooms and a nice shower. The facility is huge and really well maintained. They also have kickboxing classes, which I would want to try eventually. Overall, I would 100% recommend if you're looking to start the sport or looking for a new gym.
I don't understand why there is even a jujitsu school like this. I'm am beyond confused. I walked in thinking that this was going to be some dirty and poorly maintained school. I don't get why the mats are always CLEAN. My first class was NOT what I expected. I didn't even get beaten up. What I don't appreciate is Professor Ben taking the time to demonstrate PROPERLY the techniques down to the smallest details. I don't care about learning things the RIGHT way. I was expecting to just be thrown onto the mat and get my butt whooped. It did not happen because all coaches and students are TOO helpful. I don't know about you, but I'm not looking for a productive, healthy, and encouraging learning environment. I'm leaving this 5 star review because I am just SHOCKED with how this place is not a tough and intimidating atmosphere. Because of this, I'm staying here, trapped, because I have too good a time here and will never leave this place. I
I walked in for a free Jiu-Jitsu class on a whim, not really knowing what to expect, and from the moment I stepped through the door, I was blown away by how friendly and welcoming everyone was. The staff and the other members made me feel like part of the team right away. The instructor was super knowledgeable and made sure to give everyone individual attention, especially as a beginner. It wasn’t just about learning the moves, but also about the community and the positive energy in the room. After that first class, I was hooked!
