I've been going to Charles Gracie in Tracy for about a year and a half, as well as my 7 year old daughter, and we love absolutely everything about the academy. Top notch instruction! Friendly atmosphere. Everyone feels like a friend when you get to class. But don't let that make you think it's easy work. It's HARD! They push you in the best way possible. They want you to succeed and give it your all so you can be the best you can be at BJJ. Master Charles, as well as the other instructors are incredibly helpful teaching techniques, pointing out any errors, and answering any questions, so you can tighten up your game. I always leave class with a huge smile on my face, drenched in sweat. As for the kids classes, my daughter started when she was six (4-6 year old classes) and progressed to the 7-9 year old classes. The instructors, Coach Ruiry, Coach AJ, Coach Jeff and Coach Ryan are amazing with the kids. They make it so much fun. On the
First of all, I would like to say that the benefits of Jiu-Jitsu are evident to millions of practitioners around the world. It is a premiere and complete art of self-defense that is ideal for children and adults to learn. That being said, some academies are better than others in many areas. And it is in my personal experience and opinion that Charles Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy is one of the best schools you could attend or place your children in. My children and I have trained here for 8 months, and in our time, we have grown as a family. Some of this has to do with the training of the martial art itself, however, the staff at the Charles Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy set them apart from other options. Not only are they kind and considerate to people of all ages, sizes, and backgrounds, but they go out of their way to ensure you are learning in a safe and clean environment. Precautions were taken very swiftly by the academy during the COVID 19
I've been training here for the last 6 years and this is a great environment for the family. Being a female in a predominantly male activity maybe a bit intimidating before stepping onto the mat, but the instructors and students are very professional and courteous. The women students have grown and we now have our first female Black Belt here at the Tracy Academy! This is not an easy feat. I've trained in 3 other disciplines for a total of 9 years prior to my training here. These Academies are extremely clean which is of the utmost importance in looking for a quality place to train in addition to great instructors. Professor Charles Gracie is almost always here at the Tracy location and has his door open to all willing students who want to train hard and learn the Gracie Jiu Jitsu system. Come and try an intro class and decide for yourself!
Starting Jiu Jitsu at was something at 39 years old I was hesitant about even attempting. After my wife and two sons joined, I decided why not, I might as well give it a shot. What an experience it has been. The coaches here are top-notch and do nothing but foster a family oriented environment to train and learn in. My boys have excelled and have loved every minute of training. Not once have they complained about going to class or having to go train. I recently just got done with my first competition and was lucky enough to have Coach AJ Sams in my corner. It was truly a life changing experience. As someone who was hesitant to join Jiu Jitsu at almost 40, I can honestly say this was the best decision I ever made. The added bonus was a guaranteed date night with my wife every week. If you’re on the fence, come give Charles Gracie a try; you won’t be disappointed.
Our family has been with the Gracie's for about 10 years. Both my daughters have been training with them since the age of 5. Throughout their time there, they have created a deep-rooted community of like-minded individuals who want to improve not only their physical health, but also surround themselves with positive, influential people. It all starts with the instructors at the academy. The instruction is absolutely top notch. All the instructors are actively engaging with the students to ensure they are maximizing the lessons of the day. The result of all of this is I have 2 strong daughters ready to conquer the world. I wouldn't want to know what their lives would be like without the confidence Jiu-Jitsu has given them. The facility itself is the nicest, cleanest, well-lit that I've ever been to. The mats are cleaned on a daily; restrooms and locker rooms are always clean and stocked.
My family has been going to the Charles Gracie Jiu-jitsu Academy in Tracy since they first opened. I can absolutely say We LOVE this place! Jiu-jitsu is incredible! Such a welcoming and positive environment. The instructors are friendly and inspiring. They teach respect, discipline, self confidence and teach students how to protect themselves. My boys both started young ages 4 and 5, watching them learn and grow in this sport has truly been amazing. They've learned so much and I feel great knowing they can protect themselves from bad or harmful situations. I highly recommend the Charles Gracie Jiu-jitsu academy to all.
