Long overdue review. Our family has been with this dojo for about 10 yrs now and there's good reason why we stay. Instruction and coaching is top notch. They truly care about your development and safety on the mat and understand that people, of all ages at different stages, come to train with different goals in mind. The coaches do their best to give you what you need to achieve success. For my boys, who are pretty competitive, they have helped them excel and win some pretty tough tournaments. For me, beginner BJJ instruction is detailed and paced just right even for my older and not so nimble body. As excellent as their coaching skills are, they are equally as good at mentoring kids in other aspects of life as well. This dojo is not a business looking to make a buck. Prices are more than reasonable and what you get in return is invaluable. We are lucky to have coaches that have (or have had) successful careers and are coaching purely f
Absolutely fantastic dojo! As a fellow judo club owner in the East Bay, I can confidently say that Tri-Valley Judo & Jiu-Jitsu is a top-tier place to train. Sensei Kevin is an outstanding instructor who brings deep knowledge, skill, and genuine care to every class. His passion for the art is evident, and he creates a welcoming and supportive environment for students of all levels. Whether you’re new to judo or an experienced competitor, this dojo offers excellent instruction and a great community. The training is technical, well-structured, and always engaging. I highly recommend Tri-Valley Judo & Jiu-Jitsu to anyone looking for quality martial arts training in Pleasanton!
My family and I have been training with Coach Kevin for years. I’ve grown up on the mat and don’t have any plans to stop anytime soon. Coach cares about everyone, no matter your belt rank, age or training goals. I’ve been fortunate to have have all the TVJ coaches help me improve and also coach me during competitions. I don’t think I would’ve ever been comfortable doing so without their guidance and support. They want to help all of us be better, on and off the mat. Highly recommend.
The Tri-Valley Judo & Jiu-Jitsu provides a friendly, encouraging, respectful and fun environment to practice Judo and BJJ. Sensei Kevin and his team of assistant Coaches have tons of knowledge and experience of both sports and an unmatched dedication and commitment to the students. My son and I did practice Judo in the past, and currently are doing BJJ, and we've experienced first hand all their knowledge, sportsmanship and love for the sport. Their principles and style have attracted an excellent group of students, creating an environment of good partners to practice, grow and challenge each other while staying healthy. No matter how old or experienced you are, the sessions will provide a great workout and tons of mental and physical engagement, and will give you a good sense of accomplishment every time.
My kids have been attending Sensei Kevin's Tri-Valley Judo Club for almost a year and a half. The coaches and families are incredibly friendly, and the coaches are passionate about training the kids. My children has grown to love judo more than ever. I really appreciate how the coaches encourage the kids to compete in tournaments, and Sensei Kevin leads by example, always participating in competitions himself. It’s great to see such a dedicated and inspiring environment for the kids!
My son started judo at 6 years old back in 2016. The dojo is unique in that it provides a very friendly training atmosphere, but at the same time the kids achieve high success in beating very tough competition in big tournaments. There are many coaches and their level of expertise is very high. The dojo also provides classes in BJJ and groundfighting which is extremely important to round up the overall performance at judo tournments. If you are looking to start judo or come back to it, you should definitely try out Tri-Valley Judo.
