Right off the bat, I'm going to have to give JJ Machado Fresno Jiu-Jitsu five stars. Ever since I first tried BJJ, I've been looking for a training environment that could replicate my first experiences in BJJ, and after many years of searching, I've finally found it here. The culture here is professional, welcoming and family friendly. Additionally, for me, I feel they are really trying to foster an environment where the students at all levels can learn and grow. It's their personal touch here, that you just can't find at any training BJJ facility. I highly recommend Jean Jacques Machado BJJ of Fresno to all who want to learn, or continue to train, but who want something a little more from their experience and training. I joined JJM to give me and my 13 year old something active to do together and it’s been amazing. Since day one, they’ve treated everyone like family. From professor to coach to member we’re all given the same respect and there’s no big egos on or off the mats. It truly is like one big family. The kids classes are amazing as well. My 9 year old daughter was given the opportunity to try a few classes and she immediately wanted to sign up. If you have kids you should definitely come check out a class. My wife recently joined as well, now our whole family trains here and we’re not the only family who does so! Come check it out, challenge yourself and your children to learn something new!
Great instruction, coach walks around and makes sure to make adjustments constantly. This is a great place to train whether you are brand new like me or a veteran. Everyone is super friendly and encouraging, but they train hard here and you will get in phenomenal shape and become a master class grappler if you stick with it! Even the white belts here are very very good. It's affordable and there are many times you can train (5am, 12pm, 620 adult, and 430 kids). The dojo will soon be expanding and be almost three times the size (around new years), and if you Google the linage you will see professor Mike is legit and has received his black belt from one of the best at the world class level! 10 / 10 recommend, also a free trial class if you want to come check it out ! This is an amazing gym, Professor Mike is an awesome person, and all of the coaches' ways of teaching is very high level and excellent for both self-defense and competition (if you want to compete). So, for clarity, if you're looking to become an expert in BJJ as well as grappling (wrestling, takedowns, and grappling self-defense also), this gym is excellent and perfect for those essentials and needs. Excellent coaches and very warm welcoming for children if you're interested in signing up your kids too. Extremely high-level instruction, and a very well worth training facility for BJJ, Takedowns, Self-Defense and Grappling overall. Excellent Gym, Five Stars!
Great place for youth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu! Professor Mike and his team provide a great introductory experience for 5-8 year olds. They are professional, friendly, and keep the kids engaged. Classes are challenging and always end with a game, so the kids leave smiling and feeling a sense of accomplishment. It’s amazing how the girls and boys gain confidence and build their interpersonal skills from week to week. The facility is new, clean, and has wifi and plenty of space for parents to sit and watch their kids learn how to do hard things. Highly recommend!
Professor Mike, and the rest of the instructors at Jean Jacques Machado Jiu-Jitsu Fresno have been working with my middle-school son for several weeks now, and they’ve been nothing but welcoming, encouraging and helpful. My son and the other kids clearly have a lot of fun, able they push themselves through the training and exercises in each class. I’d my son growing through this experience, and I’m impressed by the strength add discipline I see in the other students.
