We’ve been at this dojo for about a year. My 8 yr old twin boys absolutely love it. Our schedule is busy with other sports and other school extracurricular activities so we’re unable to come more than 1-2x a week. But like swim, we think of this sport as a life skill, a sport that we want the boys to do for their lifetime. Coach Alex is patient and very thorough in his demonstrations and examples. The other instructors are just wonderful in their instruction and flexibility in working with the kids. Life lessons of anti-bullying, social responsibility, and being a good citizen are discussed with the kids in here which is a huge bonus. The classes go at the right speed that doesn’t intimidate or burn out my sons and encourages them while learning. There are advanced students here who probably compete or are looking to do that. My sons are athletic but not on the aggressive side and this dojo is perfect for them and all types of kids look
Gracie Jiu Jitsu La Palma, under the guidance of Professor Alex and his exceptional staff, provides a top-tier martial arts experience. The instructors' commitment to teaching in a thorough, systematic, and safe manner is truly commendable. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, the attention to detail and focus on technique make learning at this school a rewarding experience. The training environment is welcoming and supportive, fostering growth and development for students of all levels. If you're looking for a place that prioritizes skill-building and safety while maintaining a high standard of instruction, Gracie Jiu Jitsu La Palma is the place to be.
My kids go here and they are learning so much about handling themselves when being attacked. In this day and age, jiu jitsu should be taught in elementary schools, as it is a necessity for kids to be equipped with the skills to defend themselves. Since it is not, it is great that it is being taught here with one of the best teacher in this field. Alex not only knows how to teach, he also presents it in a way that is not boring to kids and would capture their short attention spans. The classes are not over-saturated so each child gets attention. Would highly recommend to any parent that cares about their child’s safety.
Jiu-jitsu at Gracie La Palma has been a great training experience. Professor Alex is very knowledgeable and patient with his students; the community is friendly and diverse; and the combatives program is a safe but challenging introduction to self-defense and jiu-jitsu.
Learning jiu jitsu at Gracie La Palma has been so fun! Even though I'm a complete beginner, I felt welcome and I love that every move is explained thoroughly. The instructor Alex is very nice and helpful, as well as the other students. Overall, a very supportive and non-intimidating environment!
