Our family has been coming to this training center for several years. Gridlock Jiu Jitsu is our second home. My kids have been training with the coaches' kids since they were 3 and 5 years old. We love this place. Everyone is very welcoming in this family oriented environment. Some have said that it's overpriced. This is not a fair and accurate assessment because I also compared pricing against other centers. What they charge is fair. The quality of training you get is unparalleled. The coaches have over 20+ years of Gracie jiu jitsu experience. We are so glad we found this place. To see the confidence grow in our kids is extremely rewarding. We will continue to be members of the center for many more years to come.
All 3 of my kids attend this Jiu Jitsu school and they love it. The head coach Mark is very friendly and welcoming. My kids really enjoy him and the assistance Maria. The other kids and parents are a very open and welcoming community, and we attend each other's parties and tournaments for support. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who wants to have their child develop good social skills, self-confidence, the ability to defend themselves and get tired.
We’ve been a part of Gridlock for about 7 months now and we absolutely love it. The coaches are very knowledgeable and patient. My 6 year old daughter has become more confident and fearless. She really enjoys coming to class. My 7 year old son has come out of his shell and is starting to really enjoy learning. He was very shy and didn’t want to participate at first. Coach Mark was very patient and understanding, over time my son gained confidence and feels good about himself. I’m very grateful to have come across this gym. We saw our kids enjoying it so much, my husband and I decided to join the adult class. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone looking to properly learn the technique of jiu jitsu.
I was looking for an extra curricular activity for my 5 year old daughter to keep her busy. My primary objectives were that it be something that would give her self confidence, self discipline, at least a little exercise, and that she have fun doing it. Knowing the benefits of BJJ, I thought it would be a good fit. About six months in and my daughter is absolutely loving it! With BJJ academies on nearly every corner these days, I chose GridLock Academy mostly out of convenience of location. I’m glad I did. Mark is great with the kids. He keeps them engaged and has some brilliant methods for teaching some of the basics, like using yoga balls to teach the kids balance while riding or making games out of trying to take your opponent’s back. I would recommend GridLock Academy to anyone looking for a spot to learn BJJ or self dense.
We love Gridlock Academy for our daughters! Coach Mark emphasizes self-defense and anti-bullying techniques more than competition (though he does offer that as a separate class) that other schools we've been to seem to focus too much on. Coach Mark takes the time to teach discipline, focus, respect, anti-bullying life lessons, and safety for fellow students. Coaches Jorge and Maria are also excellent. We've seen the improvement in our girls in the months they've been training and feel confident that they'll be able to defend themselves if the need ever arises.
My son has been coming here for about 3 months now and he absolutely loves it! I love the structure, the discipline and the energy he burns in here! Coach Mark is patient and understanding and structured. My sons self esteem has definitely improved and I love that this place is a safe space! Anti bullying and it feels like a family in here. Everyone looks out for each other. He has even taught my son with special needs (my son just didn't like that they have to run as a warm up). Thank you Coach Mark for welcoming my sons. 10/10, I recommend this place!!
