Also known as: Ezequiel · Sode Guruma Jime · Sleeve Wheel Choke
The choke that punishes defensive turtling under mount: one arm cradles the head, the other hand grips inside your own sleeve, and the free forearm slides across the throat like a lever.
Submission · Air Choke · Gi only · Difficulty 2/5 · Usually learned at White belt
Starts from Mount as the mounted player (top) → ends the match (submission).
The details that make it work
Cradle the head deep — their skull in your elbow crook — before showing the second hand.
Grip inside your OWN far sleeve, then feed the free hand’s blade across their throat.
Finish by scissoring: pull the sleeve arm as the blade hand drives — a no-gi version works with a fist-and-palm grip.
Where it goes wrong
Feeding the blade hand across early, letting them bite the arm with their chin.
How opponents counter it
Chin down and two hands on the sliding wrist
Bridge and elbow-knee escape while their hands are committed
Is the Ezekiel Choke legal in competition?
Legal in all major rulesets at all levels (IBJJF, ADCC, sub-only). Rules change — always confirm against the current official rulebook for your event.
