Knee Slide to Mount

Also known as: Mount Transition · Knee Drive Mount · Step-Over Mount

Upgrade side control to mount: pin their near elbow, block the hip, and slide your knee across their beltline before their frames rebuild.

Transition · Gi & No-gi · Difficulty 1/5 · Usually learned at White belt

Starts from Side Control as the top player → lands in Mount.

The details that make it work

  1. Kill the near elbow (staple it or pull it high) — that arm is the only thing that stops the slide.
  2. Knee slides ACROSS the beltline, low and heavy; a floating knee gets caught in half guard.
  3. Grapevine or post wide the instant you arrive; the first three seconds of mount are the escape window.
