Miloki Flow Jiu Jitsu Charleston reviews

Rated 4.9/5 across 36 Google reviews.

For both kids and adults, this is the place to be! We started looking for a martial art for our son, and decided to try Miloki Flow first. We never looked at anything else. Alberto is fantastic with kids, fair and kind but firm, with no yelling or screaming and a great command of the room. Our son started at 4yrs. in Oct. of '22 and absolutely loves it. He is learning BJJ but also the "house rules" of behavior. Treat others how you want to be treated, treat others with respect, shake hands and look people in the eye, and helping others. It is stressed that they are always helping their partners and helping each other in class. The kids class teaches a jiu jitsu lesson as well as body movement and awareness through games like simon says, or 'jumping the river', balance beam, etc... The end of every class is everyone's favorite, dodgeball. This not only gets the wiggles out but teaches awareness since if you crash into someone, you are ou
Absolutely love Miloki Flow. We have been members here since they first opened at this location, and there is so much to rave about. All three of my kids who are old enough to participate (ages 8, 6, and 4) are enrolled, and they eagerly await their jiu jitsu classes all week. Alberto is an amazing instructor. He manages to keep all of his students focused and on task, while teaching the kids self-defense skills, while keeping the class fun and engaging for kids of all ages, while also being supernaturally patient. He’s a wonderful role model to the students, and the results absolutely speak for themselves: In the 4 months since we’ve been going here, I’ve observed growth in each of my kids in both small and large ways — more confidence in the way they carry themselves, better eye contact when speaking to adults and other kids, etc. The fact that they’re learning jiu jitsu is honestly icing on the cake compared to the invaluable interpe
My 5 year-old-son has been going since the school first opened in March 2022. I can’t say enough good things about the lead instructor Alberto. He is truly amazing with kids. He is always so respectful and welcoming. I would challenge anyone that is on the fence with signing their child up, to go and observe a class first. I think you will be very pleased with the instruction and culture. My older sister asked my son the other day what he is learning in Jiu Jitsu and his response was, to “open doors for girls” “when you meet someone, look them in the eyes and firmly shake their hand, webbing to webbing” “treat people the way you want to be treated”. I love that even though he is also learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and how to stand up to bullies, those were the things he highlighted. I am amazed at what this program has done for my son. The discipline and confidence that he has gained in only four months is remarkable. He’s always excited
Very Welcoming. Whether you have done this before or are brand new (like me), everyone is super friendly and welcoming. They have created an environment where everyone is genuinely caring and helpful towards one another. On top of the great atmosphere, the instruction is first class. There is difference between someone that is great at Jiu Jitsu and someone who knows how to teach well. The head instructor, Alberto, is both. Whether you are a visual, auditory, or a tactile learner, Alberto’s teaching style is very effective for anyone who wants to learn Jiu Jitsu. If you are on the fence, I would highly recommend you go try out a class and you will see what I’m talking about. Oh, and the kid’s class has been amazing for my 5 year old son. Very happy with our decision to join Milokiflow.
This is a Family owned and operated business - the whole family is involved. They are all wonderful! Mr Alberto teaches the kids in a way that they easily understand what he’s trying to teach. He is incredibly patient and he makes sure ALL of the kids fully understand the moves. His two sons help teach and they’re both very helpful. His wife runs the business. Mr Alberto focuses the classes on how to avoid physical violence, not how to hurt other kids. My son has been here for a year and he loves going to class. There are alot of BJJ schools popping up here, I doubt any of their teachers earned their black belts from The Gracie family (you know, the family THAT INVENTED BJJ) Your child is in good hands with Miloki.
My sons (ages 4 and up) and I have been training here for the past few months, and love it! The kids' classes are great - just as much instruction on manners, the "golden rule", and other life skills as there is in BJJ. I'm always amazed at how patient, but firm, Alberto is with a room full of kids. It's the perfect combination for someone teaching martial arts to kids who range in age from 4 y.o. to teenagers. He's clearly an expert and knows how to interact with a wide range of personalities and energy levels. My kids say they would go everyday if they could. As for the adult classes, I've learned a ton in just a few short months and made a bunch of new friends along the way. It's great to pick up a new life skill, and have a sport that I can play with my kids as they get older. And it's a good way to keep moving and add some mobility routines to my workouts. Alberto and his family are great people, and I would highly recommend anyone
