This is the perfect place to learn BJJ in a very welcoming environment that welcomes students of all ages. Every coach has been able to provide my child with a positive experience. This is definitely not a “BJJ in a Box” gym. If you are looking for a place where you can “buy a belt” this is not the place for you. You don’t buy belts here - you earn them through hard work, developing skills, practice. The Sa lineage is impressive. Juliana and Guybson treat every student with respect and support every student on their BJJ journey. Every instructor here goes above and beyond. My child started with MMA and switched to BJJ after a few months. The skill development in both programs is phenomenal. He has learned so much and he loves to be there. He would attend 6 days a week if I would let him. If you have a child that has a competitive streak, SAS Team is a very solid team with an international presence. My child does compete and I can honest
I’ve been training with Spartan Academy for going on 12 years now. I can’t put into words how much this gym has helped me across so many different spectrums of life. It’s a place that’s family friendly but also a place for people who take BJJ seriously. It’s a place where you can unload all the frustrations and stress that weight you down throughout the week. It’s a place where you can find community and support. One thing that’s for certain, you will never leave this place after training and not feel 100% better than when you walked in. So thankful for Guybson, Juliana and the rest of the Spartan family. I look forward to many more years of friendship and trading with my family!
One of the best jujitsu gyms out there, in my opinion. My son was at a different gym before we found Spartan Academy. He was bored and wanted to quit jujitsu. I knew it wasn't because he didn't love jujitsu but it was a problem with the gym itself. Once we found Spartan Academy I saw a change in him. He was more confident, respectful, and he tried harder. My daughter watched her brother on the mat and couldn't take her eyes off everything going on. She not once showed any interest in jujitsu but in that one day she decided it was for her. It's getting closer and closer to a year since we've joined and this has been the best year at school and home for both my kiddos. This gym has been so helpful. My daughter has ADHD and autism and this gym has helped her with her focus and confidence. They have found friends here and a drive to keep pushing forward. Open mats on Saturdays are a favorite of my kiddos. They love going and learning from a
Spartan Academy Mixed Martial Arts has been one of the best decisions we have made for our family. Watching our boys train here has been incredible. They have grown in skill, confidence, and maturity in a way that goes far beyond BJJ techniques. They teach discipline, respect, accountability, and how to stay calm under pressure. Over time, I have seen the boys become more focused at home and in school, more resilient when things get hard, and more supportive of each other. The bond between them has strengthened through the challenges of training, and it has been amazing to see them celebrate each other’s progress while pushing one another to improve. Spartan Academy Mixed Martial Arts also has a welcoming, positive environment. It is tough training, but it is done the right way, structured, safe, and encouraging. If you’re looking for a place that builds strong athletes and strong character, Spartan Academy is it.
The leadership and experience present in this academy runs deep. At first, you may think that a world-class practitioner (Professor Sa) will participate in your training. And he will. But you'll also quickly realize that in this gym, there are *many* Black, Brown, Purple, and Blue belted artists, each of whom are distinguished, unique, and skillful in their own right. And they will teach you too. The Spartan Academy environment is respectful, friendly, and when it comes to training...serious. The accomplishment of mastery here is not commonplace; it is earned. I can't imagine a better place to learn, to enjoy training, and to be part of a great group of people.
I have been training here for over 8 years because this is real Jiu Jitsu. We work hard and perform great thanks to the instruction and guidance of Guybson. In my 13 years of BJJ I get my money's worth by training here because every instructor here has tips and techniques to keep yourself safe and able to defend yourself outside of the gym. We have world and national champions on the mats training and teaching every day.
